I just made made favorite comfort food for dinner tonight. Chicken and Rice with San-j Polynesian Sweet & Tangy Sauce. I lived on that stuff during some very rough times. I figured we could share some of our favorite feel good foods. Here are a few of mine.

Cheesecake. Who doesn't live cheesecake?
Redbull yes, I know it is horrible for anxiety, as my husband constantly reminds me when I want one, but I love the taste.
Starbucks Carmel Macchiato with extra carmel and whip cream.
Lasagna

Mine is chocolate, steak and au gratin potatoes. Lobster which I cannot afford. Chips and dip. It is my downfall and I am trying not to depend on them so much as I have gained a lot of weight over the last four years and trying to lose the weight.

Cake when I am not doing so well and am under a stressor. I am always in search of the perfect cake or cupcake. Perfect cake has moisture, flavour and some textures like orange or lemon peel, grated coconut or pistachios.

A coffee at a cafe every day. A piccolo with hot milk on the side. I like the little tiny glass it comes in. To me, sitting and sipping a coffee and watching the world go by is as valuable as any therapy. It gives me a sense of community, moments that some people call meditation and I have had many lovely encounters talking to strangers. It stops the loneliness.

When I am able to look after myself properly, the best comfort food to make sure blood sugar stays stable, is scrambled eggs in the morning with some stewed ripe tomato.

I gained 20 kilos since ptsd came to town, and the body started screaming for carbs, but have lost 8 of them doing 5:2 way of eating. It allows for the cake factor five days a week during the rough times. When I am doing well I add 70% chocolate instead of the cake.

I can't say no to sourdough toast with butter. I have a recipe for salmon bisque that, when coupled with the toast, is perfect for bad days. Dark chocolate. Mint ice cream. Cookie dough. Thai tea. Fresh fruit. Things with pesto. Chinese food.

Chocolate of any kind. And sweets. And fishes. And cashew. And definitely potatoes (if you have ever read Discworld, especially Interesting Times, remember Rincewind and you will understand how much ;-) ).

Fun thread.

I have a few fall-back foods, and carbs feature prominently, but probably the most satisfying comfort food is home made lentil soup. The aroma of sauteing onion, garlic, celery, carrots, and the sprinkling of herbs; oregano, basil, bay leaf, with the earthy lentils and slightly sweet, acidic tomatoes, and a dash of balsamic vinegar to finish can not be beat and is so healthy I can indulge all week and only feel better for it. I was inspired last night to make it actually, bought all the ingredients and will have to cook a big pot today.
