Background story: I was raped by a guy that I had been friends with for about 5 months. I didn't stop being friends with him till a month after it happened because I was in denial it had happened and I was hiding my concerns from my friends.

My dream was me having a party at my parents house (I've moved out 4 years ago) a number of friends are there but I don't remember them but he is there.

He tries to get sexual with me and I push him being much stronger than I was in real life. He stops and pulls away looking hurt that I'm so angry at him. I walk away and he follows trying to talk to me.

Then the dream turns into a holiday destination with big yacht cruises nearby, pretty beaches and impressive water pools. We just hang out like normal no anger or fear towards him. Though he does try to scare me with spiders from a stand (extreme fear of spiders) but then he seems genuinely apologetic that he took it too far.

Also as a background story when I went on holiday this summer with my boyfriend my attacker was on our flight. This caused a big trigger for me and I was worried it would ruin my holiday.

I just don't understand why it was overall such a pleasant dream.

I have asked my therapist about dreams and what she told me was to not read into them. Nobody knows why we dream, what they mean, heck they don't even know why we need sleep ( according to her. This woman is a "stick to the facts ma'am kinda gal. That's why I love her). Dreams are just dreams. I had one the other night I had two rhinos in my back yard and one kept ramming the other up the rear with its horn. I could have read into that but I just thought it was funny I had rhinos in my back yard. ( I work at the zoo. We only have one, named Cindy, by the way)
Try not to let it bother you. The brain is a mysterious thing.

Thank you Missy Meier that's a really nice way of putting. I think I will try and think about it like that more often.
Thanks again
