Current Weather

It's hot and dry. We have fires raging over all of Australia. Didn't think we would get through for Xmas as the roads were all closed but we got lucky and some ones opened up and were safe enough for us to drive through.
Cheers! So glad you got through! A few summers ago I ended up sidewinding all over Oregon, temp in my car was 140F/60C during the worst 2 days... heater blowing full blast to try and cool my engine, ice in my bra & every other pocket, no tread on my tires by the end of it. Melted clean down. You could actually track my progress across the state by looking at the time lapse fire maps. The heat “did something” to my engine. No idea what. But for the next year I got amaaaaazing gas mileage.

I think we're getting rain this coming week! It's become a bit of a novelty, so if it happens (and it usually happens in the middle of the night), I'm going outside and I'm gonna stand in it and jump in puddles and generally just be f*cking grateful!

Because weather wise? Every day is the same. 30s. Hot, cloudless, smoky. Rinse and repeat.

I remember how much I used to look forward to stepping out of the baggage claim into white skies, 10 degrees, and raining.

AKA Thinking happy thoughts. Thinking happy thoughts.

I didn’t always hate this. Once upon a time I looked forward to this. I wanted this. This was a good thing.

:wtf:

Running in the rain. Cold rain on hot skin. Happy thoughts. Happy thoughts.

:banghead:

The drizzle is currently caught by the wind. Blowing, and swirling, like snowflecks. Around and around, and across, straight into your face, and up the back of a coat. Falling in any direction except straight down. I forget, sometimes, that there are places where umbrellas are useful.

Yesterday was grey - not from clouds but smoke so I locked it all outside and look through the windows. Some of it crept into my home but mostly it stayed outside.

Rain? A few mls.. nothing really. Didn't even wash the soot off my car. Actually it made crazy patterns all over it. I won't wash my car till this is all over. I think everyone is thinking the same thing here. Water is too precious anyway.

Rain was good for my garden just to remind my plants that are left... hang in there because yeah... it does know how to rain and it will rain again.

The rain was heavier in some places but that made it difficult to trevail the fire tracks. There's good and bad in everything.

Today is warming up again. It will get to just below 30 C. The smoke haze has lifted. I believe it may have drifted over to New Zealand and set off alarms over there.

We are all being warned that we will be facing extreme fire danger again by Friday and Saturday.

It's about 30F right now. I'm in jammies my robe and under a blanket and my feet are finally thawing.

My knee was so painful the other day then it snowed and such relief. Yep. I'm that old and decrepit. ?

A warm front is on its way for the weekend. More rain and flooding is expected. The flooding has been really bad since last spring.

I'll do a reverse rain dance and send it to Australia.

Edit. Rain dance complete. ??????
