Current Weather

Not really....The high here today will be....15c, 59F. And rain rain thunderstorm rain.......

At least I know where to find the cats....looking out the front window watching it rain.....
It’s usually 10c and raining here, in June. Sometimes storming. Usually just wind off the glacier, rather than full on sea storms landing, but those happen, too. The Pineapple Express, hot winds off the ocean, happen in late winter/early spring. For a week here, a week there. Then back to 10c & rain.

It’s been weirdly 20-30c with… scattered clouds & sunshine. Most days. With the occasional, oh, okay. 10c & rain. Then spike up “hot” again. Then a few days of normal. Wacky weather, for here. It’s not usually breaking 20 until July. The weather, here, is usually identical in both January & June. 10c & rain. Hence the nickname.

20-30 with scattered clouds, and occasional 10c overcast, is normal for July & Aug. up to 40 in Sept, but more than a few days in a row makes the news, and people dying from the “heat”.

Here? 10C and raining for 10 mo. 2mo of 20-30. A week or so of 40.

I grew up in places where 40c was winter weather, so it still fries my brain a BIT. Unless I’m fat, or pregnant, and then 20c feels like a circle of hell.

Cloudy, sprinkles of rain, gray, wind off the ocean. This is a very nice day at the beach during mid or high summer for those of us who live here. Traffic is at normal levels.

Heatwave. We have it so easy compared to a lot of places though. And even for here, I have it lucky compared to a lot as our flat is quite cool generally.

Yesterday was one of the about 10 nice days a year we get here. You couldn’t stay in the house and if you went in you’d like bounce back out. You could weed in the direct sun and not be sweating buckets. Today the heat and humidity is back. Can’t wait to run back inside .

We’re in wacky weather.

For the past… lifetime… SPRING in this area means??? Cold/Wet mornings, Hot/Sunny afternoons. And? Vice versa. Gorgeous in the morning means stormy afternoons.

THIS YEAR???

Spring didn’t do that.

Summer seems to be.

40 degrees of difference. 50s in the mornings & 90s in the afternoon. High 80s, sweaty, sultry, boggy in the morning, and slashing rain & wind off the glacier afternoon.

Fawking weird weather, man.

Not as wacky as it was recorded in the late 1800s. But still wacky as fawk for anything recent.

It’s been really hot but is only going to get up to 69 F today wow. Yesterday we had to stand out in the sun awhile it was close to 100 degrees. Big change.

The 1980’s NEON HOT PINK sunrise, yesterday, was the first warning.
The 1950’s candy apple red moon, last night, was the second.
An odd muggy heat, and most of the local birds winging elsewhere, in clear blue skies this morning? 3rd.

A hint of woodsmoke on the air, this afternoon, has become a full on haze that limits line of sight to 100m. Everything across the lake is eaten by “The Nothing”.

We’re in a bit of a vortex of 3 big fires; the nearest hundreds of miles away… and hundreds of little fires… as well as an inversion (essentially the city has a dome over it, happens a few times a year with local weather, just bad timing with wildfire smoke trying to chimney up).

We have a storm warning for Sunday… so hopefully a nice little gale force will break through the inversion… cool things off & clear things out. Until then? We’re gonna be cedary, mesquitey, piney, ashy. (PacNW).
