The most important thing to remember now is that she's got you! You just take care of her and yourself.

As it turns out, the rape happened a coupla years ago and my daughter has already been dealing with this in therapy for some time now. She has a good support system in place and has a healthy attitude towards her healing journey.

She says she told me about the rape and I shut down, but I don't remember her ever telling me before. :confused: I feel like I failed her in her time of need, but all I can do is to try and make up for it now and be there for her. She says she understands that I couldn't process the information at the time ....(I have an amazing daughter whom I am very proud of and love very deeply!!!!)

I still feel like a failure and it may take me some time to get this sorted out.:cry:

Lionheart, you're doing awesome! Taking steps forward, talking to and loving your daughter, helping yourself recover, all of those are very hard to do. It's easy to sit back and deny what reality is, but to actually do something about...that doesn't sound like a failure to me :tup:

Be there for your daughter. That is the most important thing. By believing and supporting her you are doing the best thing as a parent, and it will be one of the most healing things for her.

Tough decision and job well done. I am so sorry about your daughter and so glad that yo are there for her now. You are so right-none of us have to be perfect and we are not. Important to remember in order for us not to feel guilty about what we can't control.
I had to cut ties from my sis a few months ago and am now feeling so much better. Some people are just toxic. Keep taking care of yourself-Brat
