Accidentally getting caffeine you don't want will cause you to feel wired. Nothing to be sorry for. Of course you feel angry/upset when you are accidentally wired. It isn't fun for folks who are trying like heck to calm down.

I have to ask for replacement drinks a lot because I like hot *white* chocolate. They make regular hot chocolate a lot. They always apologize. It's harder to judge a caffeine/decaf issue though. But be picky! It's ok. :)

@Lewa, first, I loved your first post in this thread. You are not a baby, or too sensitive. When a person has PTSD, avoiding caffeine is often part of the diet. And as you mentioned, it can cause hyper-arousal, and interfere with your sleep. I have been in your shoes..

I love the discussion that you initiated, and learned a bunch. In the process, I've been reminded of how one of my diet coaches suggested to me, that with my diet (vegan and don't eat wheat or sugar) that the safest way to avoid ingredients that I don't want, is to make the food or drink myself.

And I still hope to get what I order when I go out for coffee. Thanks again!

Your not overreacting. Definitely go back and explain they've got it wrong. Don't let it put you off eating out, if its something you get joy from how would that be fair?

I've had to cut down on caffeine because of insomnia and migraines. I allow myself one real cup of tea a day, any more than that now, and I get hyperactive (seriously high, my friends find it hilarious). But I can deal with that. One of my best friends gets chronic migraines if she consumes even the tiniest amount of caffiene (or cheese, or chocolate, bummer), so she has to check, and double check. Plenty of people can't take caffiene, nobody's going to find it weird if your one of them.

@shimmerz It is comforting to hear you say this:
how quickly and well you knew your body responses
Thank you.
I have often felt it was a curse that I feel everything in my body that way that I do. The somatic issues that come with ptsd are the part that I hate the most, and sometimes I wonder if being so in tune with my body contributes to my distress. I wonder if I was less in tune would the physical aspects feel less intense and less real...

I try to lean towards the idea that being in tune with our bodies will help us heal, but sometimes it does not feel that way.
