Honestly, clonazapam is the only thing that works: that and Bentyl for the spasms. (I only take half of the smallest Clon. dose.) Once you take it and calm, so will your gut. The major thing is a bottle of powerade/gatorade daily and a bottle of high protein Boost. I learned that when your gut is hurting/growling, sometimes it's because you've gone so much you're dehydrated. 8 good gulps of Gatorade pronto. Sounds crazy, but you'll see that it works.
Best of luck.
I agree completely with you- these are the same things I use. I tried going gluten-free and that's helped a lot as well, but I recently ended up in the hospital again after a really stressful time doing a proposal at work (lots of overtime, plus I was taking two classes at the same time). This time the pain is just not going away, so I finally went to a specialty clinic at Johns Hopkins and I ended up with a neurogastroenterologist who told me all the stress (beginning with years of PTSD) had caused a physical condition called pelvic floor dysfunction. If you're seeing a GI doctor about your issues you may want to ask about that- I was seeing a local GI doctor for years who never caught it. He tells me it can be fixed with bio-feedback therapy and if you keep your stress levels down afterwards your symptoms might go away altogether.
