Media - ugh! I rarely watch the news. I avoid newspapers with any discussion of child abuse or molestation. I cut out drama between people when possible.

As you referred to, I control the switch. I always have my guard up for a story that may trigger me. If conversations go in a direction in a group that I feel are sensitive areas I circulate to another place. I also avoid certian activities that will lead to secondary wounding - such as baby showers and wedding showers. Maybe it's avoidance and denial but it works for me.
