I also think I tend to ignore my body and symptoms frequently. I have been told by doctors time and time again, "you have a high pain tolerance" and that I should have come in earlier for treatment.

My perception is that I have a much lower pain threshold than most, and pain tends to be a trigger for me and I get really distressed by it. That said, I do tend to just ignore low-grade pain or other symptoms.

I get colds and flus at about the same rate as my work colleagues, but I tend to have a lot more time off work than everyone else (except for another colleague who's also dealing with past trauma). About a year ago, I was diagnosed with a low-grade chronic inflammatory disease. I'd always assumed it was just IBS, but turns out it's not.

I have a tendency to somatise a lot of the emotional pain. I kept it buried in my twenties that way and I lost most of my twenties to not facing up to the trauma. I still have occasional tendencies with that, which is one of the reasons why I tend to ignore illness as much as possible. My doctor and I often have trouble working out what's real illness we need to deal with and what's emotional stuff I need to work on. Dizziness, headaches, fatigue and generalised pain are typical somatisation symptoms for me - but they overlap with so many physical illnesses (eg colds and flus) that it gets confusing at times.

I'm always sick with something especially when I've been stressed. The herpes zostor virus better known as "chicken pocks" always shows it's face when my immune system is down as shingles and bells palsy.

i been having a real bad time with my ibs lately. it keeps me awake nights going to the bathroom. i have been out once in the last three weeks because of it. i know from the doctor at the va ibs isn't cause by stress but is made worse because of it. i hope it lets up so i can go to my ptsd group at the vets center.

I've had some terrible illnesses. I think I have some pretty rotton luck. But, for now (knock on wood) other than my ulcer telling me to change my diet - things are fine.

I answered that I don't get sick. I do however seem to injure myself more than others like my shoulder and I cut my fingers a lot. I don't do these on purpose I just seem to be very accident prone lately. Like today I tripped on the steps and hit my head rather hard on the ceiling. yes the ceiling. I am rather tall and the ceiling is rather low. no lump or anything but I sure have a headache now.

I have noticed, and it has also been pointed out to me, that I tend to be an accident looking for a place to happen. I am always bumping into stuff, tripping, etc. and I have, over the years managed to break every one of my toes because of it.

The only thing I can think of is a lack of concentration because our brain is simply trying to get us through the day without collapsing.
This theroy some good anyway.

Until my trauma 4yrs ago I very rarely went to my GP except for a 6mth prescription for migraine meds. Then 2yrs ago my ptsd went into overdrive & I was seeing my gp almost weekly with one or another ailment, some I now think were imagined to avoid my psychological issues. I've had a number of health issues since, chronic fatigue, ibs, rebound headaches, heart defect, arthritis & dental probs. Oddly enough though in those 4yrs I've only had one cold, which I've fot right now.

I feel sick at times when I am really stressed, but not in the sense of being sick itself. I get sick just like anybody else.

I have found that I constantly feel sick, my body aches all the time and I'm often confused.
I have many pills for many things but I'm not 100% sure the doctor knows what's wrong with me.
I feel sometimes it's easier for him just to throw more pills at me :(

I get sick a lot more easily but thats mainly cause i have diabetes and a bad heart problem, so i pick things up very easily.
