You'd love it in the Pacific Northwest Other.........dark, cold, stormy, windy.........hunkerdown hermitville!

I love sunlight, but for the last year I have a hard time opening my window shades. It makes it harder for me because I should be letting more light into my home, but I fear that someone will be looking into my windows.

Thank you for asking...
Others had always found it strange of me(including my Mother who would -push- me out into the bright sun). She would lay there enjoying the sun getting reenergized. I would hide under any shade possible. Yet when it rained I would be out in fullforce.

Later I thought it was due to being very fair and burned easily in the sun, but I also always felt drained in the sun. I love a good cloudy winter day aswell.

I even found my breathing less strained on cloudy rainy days.
I again attributed thinking that the allergins were being kept down due to the rain.

Not sure?

I love the sun and have a lot more energy when the sun is out. My husband and I joke about me being "solar-powered" because the difference is so marked! I always have a much more positive out-look on life and want to start new projects!
Strangely enough, though, I also love to take walks in the rain and find this very relaxing. There is something very comforting and soothing to me about hearing the sound of rain falling on my umbrella or the roof of my car or house. It seems to go back to my childhood when the only place I felt really safe was taking trips or camping with my family...

this is me, I don think it goes to camping as we didnt do that, actually I think we did I just cant remember that well... I have blocked something here, in more ways than one.

I did the poll before I just dont think I had commented before. I love the rain, but occasionally I am thinking I could eprhaps like the sun- I have so much stuff here on summer though it is overwhelming for me

But I do like and love hearing the rain...I just love it. ok maybe some breakthrough here for me, thankyou red shoes...

I have some thoughts on why I love it maybe maybe now..I dont know.

I dont think it is the only reason I like it though...ok I soo know I need to slow some. Thankyou red shoes,

I just found this accidently... and I am  I think I need to find it some. Thankyou forum... ;)

I also think I need t try to figure how to get the smilies back...and I am so going to be rofl at that in a minute hah!!!

good grief ;)

"What is this 'sun' you talk of?"
LOL!! We often feel like that here in Washington State as well as y'all in the UK and Scotland!!
Thanks for the smile, fin and resurrection :)

I always joke that when I'm 80 I'm gonna look like I'm 50 'cuz I NEVER go out in the sun! (Along with never drinking....or smoking....)

I like cold, damp and a heavy mist, I feel the best with a light rain, I love watching thunderstorms and pouring rain, it is energizing.

The sun drains me especially when it's hot, it's too bright, and there are more people and noise when the sun is out, loud boomboxes, that makes me feel unsafe, I dread summer coming up, autum is best for me, when people have gone back inside.

I'm from the UK, living in the Pacific Northwest, I came hear for the green countryside but it still gets too hot for me at times. I rolled up my living room shades this weekend, I could barely stand it, all this brightness felt unsafe. It seems odd to have difficulty letting light in.
It's interesting seeing how different or similar we are.

I NEED the sunlight! I am depressed when it is absent for days. Winter is hard for me. I am so happy summer is here! :)

I have lived in Portland, OR for three years now and moved from the sunny South. This past year, the lack of sun in the winter got to me and played at least some part in a depressive episode. Got some advice to take vitamin D supplements and I think it really helped my mood.
