Does Anyone Else Get These Intense Reactions?

It seems like "Borderline Personality Disorder" is the current "worst possible thing you can have."

I like the way my T describes all this. For example, instead of flat out telling me I have ADHD, he says, "ADHD is nothing more than an array of characteristics that everyone has some of. Some people have more, some people have less. I think you have noticeably more than most people."

This is true of everything, I think. In fact, I'd go so far as to say there IS not such "thing" as any of this stuff. All these "mental disorders" are an array of characteristics that humans experience to a greater or lesser extent. If it gets enough "greater" (or, I suppose, "lesser" too, in some cases) then it becomes a "problem" and they give it a name. This stuff isn't "diseases" in the sense that measles or the flu are diseases.

So, @J_trustno1 , even if you DO meet the criteria for BPD, it's nothing but a "thing". You are still the same person. The only purpose of the label ought to be as a way of bookkeeping to make it easier to understand what you're dealing with. And, I have no idea if you meet the criteria or not. BPD is associated with some of the same early background characteristics that lead to some versions of PTSD, the way I understand it. Poor parenting, attachment issues, etc. Not necessarily cause & effect, but there are correlations. So maybe, by having a particular kind of childhood, you end up lacking specific skills and tend to react in certain characteristic ways. A bit more of one reaction and you meet the criteria for BPD. A bit more of another, PTSD, etc on to all the possible permutations.

So, what do YOU think about your change in feelings about cats? Does it make sense to you? Do you have cats of you own? How do you feel about them?

I imagine this is different for adults becasue I have bipolar disorder and when I drink Starbucks espresso I don't become manic. ;)

LOL. Neurochem is all different! But in this case it's probably body weight &/or other stronger meds counteracting a weaker stim.

Cause if you're unmedicated, having an insomnia episode, and shoot 3 shots of espresso per 40lbs of bodyweight... I'd still lay money on it tipping you into a mania.

Personally, I sip on a 6shot venti diluted with a lot of milk to make it last whenever I have to sit through a long boring meeting. I have no problem staying awake, but I become very mellow. But if I shoot 12-15 shots of espressos (30 seconds)? I'm still out like a light! ZzzzzzzZzz.

Yea, my brain is easily primed for trauma development. Once you have already experienced so much trauma, the brain is overreactive and begins to see everything as a threat... hyper alert. Luckily the meds have nearly stopped that painful cycle of black or white love or hate that went on in the brain organ inside my skull.

I think it was my reaction to the pain I was feeling at that time. I tried so hard to hate cats but I can't hate them. This evening neighbors cat, who live 4 houses away came running to my house meowing outside my door calling for me. My mum called me when he was calling for me. When I went outside he was rolling all over his back in happiness to see me. He spent almost an hour with me and yet still won't let me go. I think it was just that stray cat who attacked me and caused pain made me to react such way But I don't hate cats.

I also feel that she was on heat. Because she was crying like a baby and at that time I didn't know what that was all about. When I searched it online that's what I discovered.
