Hi, my names Louisa and i post here rarely. I really want to reply to a post by anthony on his blog? One of my symptoms is that i am not very organised, my concentration is very poor, so i may not be able to function on the site i.e answer or send postcorrect way - despite my intelligence. What i want to say to anthony is I really hope u don't give up the site, I can see where your coming from. I really can. I have thought of those issues u've mentioned, before u mentioned them. Keep going. If u spend alot of time away - thats fine - i can't see the problem with that? But i hope u dont go to 'veterans only' kinda mode. What happened to me personally was the type of thing that could have happened in a war zone - to women victims. I am lucky to be alive. At one point, there was no air going into my lungs and i came very close to death - murder. I was held at knife point and also received a flesh wound, believe me, the wounds to come would have been fatal if i had not figured out a way to deal with my assailant. Don't give up. you have produced an excellent website and u r going to get people on here who u find it difficult to deal with. Alot of them r going to be that way. I could say more. But, that aint why i answered this, i find it difficult to get across to u what i mean. but, the things u said, well, i can see where ur coming from, but don't give up. This is one of the best ptsd sites i've come across, thats down to u, so dont give up an take the easy option, sincerely, louisa

Thanks Louisa... much appreciated. I am trying to deal with people better... just some days still get really tough if lumped with too much at once. I think having a few people all at once at me... was nearly enough for me.

Louisa,
Thanks for starting this thread. I read that blog by Anthony as well and wanted to say something, but didn't know how.

Anthony,
I am sorry to hear of your troubles with this website. I do understand how much stress and pain it can cause. I ran a support group for homeschoolers and it was tough enough. I learned that you can't please everyone..even though I wanted to. I am sure you already know that, but I wanted to let you know your struggles are understood and oh so very very much appreciated. This is an amazing website and I love all the precautions you take to make this a safe place for us to come to. I do see how some can become offended based on the history of PTSD and also I believe some are used to working with mental health professionals that can 'overlook' things that you would choose to moderate so they are not used to being told the way they take part in recovery is not proper. Not sure if that made sense! Thanks again for this website.

I am a child abuse/neglect CPTSD sufferer and am aware our issues are very different. Maybe it will help to deal with 'us' by remembering when we are triggered, we go back to the children we were when we were abused. I know a lot of times it sounds really 'pathetic and weak', and that is part of the pain of this disorder. It is frustrating to be a mature intelligent person that all of a sudden turns into a baby.

Best wishes and thanks thanks thanks!!

Peace,Evergreen

I don't mean to sabotage this thread but feel the need to comment. Your last paragraph Evergreen I so relate to. I struggle so much when i revert to some scared child. And it really isn't a choice for me until I recognise this is what has happened.

anthony,
please gon't give up on this site. I have only just gotten here and already it has been so very helpful... i realized that i was not alone in hearing voices at times. I never knew that other survivors heard those things like i do. this place this site means more to me than you will ever know. i finally have found friends that i can talk to and explain things to and open up too about what happened.

thank you,
Popeye

I don't know what happened, but yeah, this site is a life saver. I imagine it takes quite a bit of work, but it really does help a lot of peeps out there.

I don't think Anthony would give up on the forum as he is very passionate about helping others, especially those with this debilitating illness.

The point is, well I think is, that people come here and rant and rave about rules and policies, attacking editors, and loose sight of all the help, support and assistance they receive from others for free. This forum is privately funded and new members come along acting like pork chops and taking out their aggression where it really is undeserved.

Myself, I dedicate hours every week to the forum and some members spit the dummy and act like two year olds because I gave them an infraction...which is about them not following the rules, not me being mean because I can.

Most members are fabulous and grateful but all it takes is a couple of rotten apples to spoil the pie and sometimes that does happen.

Funnily enough, I have been watching the thread where Anthony has asked if anyone would like to assist with editing and I think there has been no response to date. So, for those of you who attack first and think later, just remember that walking a mile in someone else's shoes may not be as easy as you think and maybe you should assess things more carefully before reacting.

It saddens me to hear that people are so rude and unsensitive.

I spent years in customer service being abused by people like this. To think that members attack editors over such silly things is really sad.

To all those who know we are talking about you "Shame on you",....I truly can't stand people who exhibit this type of behavior.

Anthony and Nicolette...........you are doing a beautiful thing here and helping thousands of people. Please don't give up and please let us share the burden of somehow reprimanding these selfish, self-centered people somehow. I don't know how, except perhaps you can start a thread where you vent about them, not saying their name..........at least someone will hear what you endure and empathize.

Just an idea.

^ So true for me, too.
It's part of how a flashback is, for people with traumatic childhoods.

Similarly, I personally feel that this is also part of the dynamic that may make some of us have what may seem as 'extreme' or such reactions to authority. Authority has been wielded over us when we were very young in a destructive and abusive way. This can stir up all kinds of things in us as adults.
It is very different to the background a combat survivor may have, the world of authority and rules are a whole different picture to someone whose traumas were abuses of power in childhood.
PTSD symptoms share common ground, but there are indeed interpersonal/intrapersonal dynamic differences in lots of cases at least.
Plus of course the complications of combat survivors who've also endured abusive childhoods - all kinds of factors to consider there.

It's a challenge, as here is much more inclusive than most abuse survivor based PTSD forums, which are so sexual abuse centric. I sense more common ground here, and that's great.
Cultivating sensitivity to others and having compassion for their foibles and sensitivities is part of healing - at least it is in my book.

I am so sorry you are having a hard time with the forum....I hope the ones of us that have been around are not causing too much of a problem for you!!!

Dont even think about doing anything with this forum. You Anthony took a huge load off me by telling me why I am battling this and its origin. Great learning are also thanks.
Thanks from all of the VETS who use this place and will use this place from all countries.

I salute you,
Gunchief

I just would like to tell that I know this forum is a big load of work and I really appreciate what is done here everyday. This is a unique place for support and it exists because of the contribution of members but mainly because of the hard work and safety rules that is put to practice here.

Nobody is obligated to be here... I know that rules sometimes creates some anxiety, like being moderated for a while. A quick reading in the rules made me understand that this was necessary and these rules have a big part in making this forum so special.

:clap::clap::clap:

I really appreciate this place.
