Don't Know What I Did Last Night!

I'm hoping I'm posting this in the right forum section as it pertains to Medications. I was excessively depressed and took an extra pill then I normally do (normal 2). As I reached for my mouse I noticed my mouse had some chocolate on it with an open packet of Nutter Butter Bars on the desk; upon further inspection my keyboard also had some chocolate on the bottom. Also earlier this morning I thought I had lost my phone while I was sleeping come to find it was carefully placed inside of my shoe by the door. I have been told I talk in my sleep is it possible this Medication I've been on since I was in Junior High School is why I talk and possibly walk in my sleep?

Dear Cookinggal, you need to talk to your doc. I don't know what you are on, but there are many side effects with meds, especially psych meds. Do not go off of them without talking to your doc. Med requirements can change as time goes on. You yourself can change too. Just talk to the doc.

Some medications are hypnotics, like Ambien. There are others that can really throw you for a loop... all of our bodies are different.

I'd listen to our resident Nursenurse and talk to your doctor about this incident. They may want to change your meds a bit.

I agree with LhasaLover. Ambien made me very active in my sleep. I would hear my mother asking for her purse and go to hand it to her, but then I woke up standing on my knees holding nothing in the air. The same night I swear I was drinking some water from a glass. Only I became aware of myself and I was laying there on the bed holding my hand around a glass that wasn't there. In addition to that, I had memory loss surrounding the events of the next couple of days after taking the pill.

I guess that would depend on what medication you are taking. I don't think you've said what medication you think might be causing these side effects?

Also for anyone who sleep walks, excessive stress often makes them more likely to sleep walk. Talk to your Doctor ;)

I'm sorry you were feeling so depressed. It sounds like your medication may need to be reviewed anyway, as others have said.

Is this within what your prescribed dose is, ie has your doctor said it's OK to take 3 if you need to?

My mother was very active and it was rather dangerous as an outsider watching her when she took Ambien. She walked all over the place, she fell down steps. One time she sat in front of flowers and named them. She tried to eat a rose.

On another hypnotic, she actually drove. She remembered none of these incidents. If you don't live alone it may be good to have someone keep an eye on you to see exactly what is going on. If you do an Internet Ambien hypnotic or something like that, there should be a lot of information!

Good for you for catching on real quick and reaching out for help!

Cookinggal, I agree with the others about talking to your doc. It is quite alarming to realize you don't know what you have been up to the night before. I'm sorry you've had to experience that.

I was recently prescribed Ambien for chronic insomnia and the first night I took it I ended up punching a wall in my sleep. To make a long story short, I now have two fingers that are probably fractured and my hand is in a cast. I think I will stick with the insomnia. :cautious:

I hope you get it sorted out quickly.

Sorry about your fractures that must hurt. I would love to quit taking the medication I just fear the side effects from it leaving my body as I know most from a family friend who's son now is on Dialysis after taking it for so long. I will definately talk to my psychiatrist about it. Hope you heal up quickly.
