Dream Interpretation

An odd one

OK, so I had a really crazy dream lastnight. I was in a crowded restaurant with my girlfriend. I was annoyed. We walked into the adjoining shop and took different aisles. I stopped and looked up and saw four men dressed in shirts with Christian sayings and hats with crosses on them and tried to politely pass. My girlfriend found me and came down the same aisle and bumped the shoulder of one of the men as she passed him. The men kind of walked around us so there was no polite way to just walk away. One offered to pray for us because of our lesbianism. My girlfriend just respectfully closed her eyes and he put his hand on my shoulder and began to pray. She would never let someone try to pray away her gayness and I was shocked she was being so passive. I was very upset that he was touching my shoulder and then I could feel him biting my cheek. I was angry and started yelling "I don't believe in your god..he doesn't exist. There is no such thing as god." whiile he was praying. And that was the end.

Relavant info - I don't like crowds or people touching me. I feel like I don't look particularly lesbian (if there is such a thing), but my girlfriend might as well wear a giant sign. She's a little butch. I do feel like it is obvious to others what I am when I am out with her. I am an atheist, but the dream states that pretty clearly.

I can understand most of the dream, but what the hell was the biting about?

OK, so nevermind. I re-read my post and connected a few relavant tidbits. I have it figured out.

My attacker punched me in the cheek and that is when I figured out he was not my sister playing some cruel trick on me in the middle of the night. The "Oh SH*T! I'm going to die!" feeling came directly after. My attacker was also the son of a preacher.

Perhaps all I needed to do was type it out.

Thanks!

Hiya Seeking Nirvana and thank you so much for your reply.

I found it not to be the answer i was expecting but then i dont know what i was expecting lol. I'm also scared of the head master in real life so maybe my dream also says that i am scared of him as well as my sub-concious. What your saying definitely does make sense and fits in with exactly how i'm feeling. Very accurate. Will have to try and work out what i can do about that though. Taking it easy - never learnt how to do that so maybe its time to learn. So thank you for taking the time to answer my post. It means a lot. And i really do appreciate you not sugar coating my dreams - theres no point to that in my opinion. I'd rather know how it is. The truth is always best no matter how hard it can be to handle.

Thank you also so very much for inviting me to join the dream group or PM you with dreams. I'm going to keep a log of them whenever i can and try and deal with the more scary ones. I think im even going to buy a dream interpretation book to help myself with this.

As for the car dreams, i dont feel i'm a safe driver anymore due to lack of sleep so maybe that has something to do with it.

Please dont think i will take this personally or be offended because i wont. I appreciate the help whether its what i want to hear or not.

And again thank you ever so much

Take care

Hi mightsurvie, Dreams can be tricky and sometimes we don't really grasp their meaning for days, weeks or months (some times never). I had a dream once that I just couldn't figure out and got some other dream readers to help me figure it out. I still didn't understand it. About 3 months later I was reading over all of my dreams to look for improvements as well as staying stuck. I read that dream I couldn't figure out and it clicked. I knew what it meant.

I'm afraid to drive too, so I certainly understand that. If you look at my mental imagery test you will see that my obstacle is cars. Also, I dream of cars a lot too. I have to determine weather my car dreams is a fear dream or a body dream. It's not always easy to figure out. The way I look at it, is some things are not meant to be figured out and that is OK. Life can be a mystery and so can dreams.

One thing I realized after I submitted my thoughts on your dream is that the whole dream itself seems to be an anxiety dream release. When we sleep our mind releases the stresses of the day through dreaming.

One last thing, when we dream of some one we know. It's about them, but it also is a reflection of ourselves. Some how we identify our own characteristics with the persons (head master) characteristics. So if you are afraid of him in real life, there is an aspect in your own personality that is scaring you as well. The best way to learn and understand dreams is to join a dream group and there are tons of them on yahoo groups. Reading the books is like going to college, but actually being a part of the group is like hands on training. I learn better by doing than reading, but everyone is different.

Good luck

Hi workingthroughit

It looks like you have a good understanding of dreams. I noticed that your dream is not very symbolic and is more logical (which is a masculine trait for the most part) Some people dream in symbols and some dream in logical terms.

One thing I would like to point out. To achieve balance in our lives it is important to have equal amounts of feminine and masculine traits within us. It's hard to do, but can be done. It appears that you are trying to rid yourself of masculinity (men in shirts)

Now your girlfriend has more masculine traits (per your statement), but was being passive in the dream, which is a feminine trait.

I won't even try to interpret religious dreams lol.

I feel that there needs to be balance even though you choose to be lesbian. There is nothing wrong with men incorporating feminine traits into their personality and woman incorporating masculine traits into their personality no matter if they are gay, lesbian or straight. I struggle incorporating masculine traits into my personality because I think with my feelings instead of logic (most of the time). I'm trying to balance that out so I can be grounded and feel at ease.

Have you ever read about Yin and Yang? This will give you a better understanding of what I'm trying to say. Check it out in google if you get a chance.

Sorry to hear that your trauma was involved in this dream. Those dreams really are the worst.

Take care
Tammy

I apologize if this is somehow inappropriate. I just found this thread and have not read all of it but reading parts of it made me curious. I'd like your aid to figure out about the two dreams I have been having for the past few months. This morning I had the first different dream in a long time. Before today I had basically the same two dreams every time I slept. In one I would be stalking some kind of big cat or it would be stalking me. In the other, I would be doing normal things that people do in the city, eating out or walking in a park, etc. and somehow I would get caught up trying to kill some kind of huge wolf. The big wolf/werewolf one was is not in the city where I am now. It does not look remotely the same. In that one I can't look up though, and the werewolf always kills me in the end. In the other, I never really see what it is I am chasing or what is chasing me but I can tell when it changes, and when the thing gets behind me it somehow feels like some kind of panther or tiger. This doesn't make sense to me since I don't hunt in real life, and I certainly don't go big game hunting.

Hi Andre, I will invite you to my new group on Analyzing dreams. You can post your dreams there. It would be best if you write down all of the details as they happen with any emotion that goes with it.

I'm not sure I can give you a good reading on just a few pieces to the whole puzzle. Animals have a lot of different meanings in dreams. So I would need a whole description of each dream. The results of what it will mean will be much better if I have the whole picture.

Here is what I get just from what you wrote. The cat stalking you or vise versa probably means that the cat is a representation of yourself. Cats generally represent our feminine side. The cat is trying to get your attention so you should ease up on yourself and incorporate some feminine traits into your character (For instance, if you don't talk a lot (which seems to be a feminine quality) then try to start talking more.) We need both feminine and masculine traits within us for proper balance. You might want to google Yin & Yang and read what it has to say about this. It will give you a better understanding of what I'm trying to convey here.

Werewolfs represent basic animal instincts and reckless abandonment. Maybe this is a characteristic in yourself you do not like or want, so you are trying to kill it/rid yourself of it because you see it as a character flaw. However, it seems to be killing you which means you will have to keep working at this flaw you don't like. Once you are able to kill it then the flaw should be gone for awhile. If it returns then the dream most likely will return.

The thing chasing you is yourself in the representation of another animal (panther or tiger-cat). Animals are hard to interpret because they have so many meanings. But the main one I can be sure of is they represent our "instinct". You are in a great deal of conflict with yourself based on these dreams. But I would like to see more detail of them at my group. Then maybe we can figure out how to get them to stop.

When I figure out what one of my recurring dream means, it stops (except for my trauma dreams, they never stop unfortunately) But they have lessoned with time.

Hope this was helpful.

Seeking Nirvana

I think that I am probably a very interesting mix of masculine and feminine in my traits. My math skills and spacial understanding are more like most men I know. I wear makeup and carry my wallet in my back pocket - no purse. My favorite hobbies are sewing and repairing my own car. Before I became a nanny, I worked in professions where I was typically the only female in the company in my position. I used to try to pick either being feminine or masculine, but have come to find that this is just who I am.

I think the men in the slogan shirts had more to do with how I find religion threatening.

I think your right. It's your dream and only you know the answer to it. I have never tried to analyze religion in dreams before. I have analyzed the symbols such as the cross. The cross could be a pun on words.

Like, 'cross your fingers', 'cross the line' (which I think those men did by not respecting boundaries) 'I have a cross to bear' 'cross your mind' 'cross my heart' etc. Hats generally represent that I'm not letting my thoughts flow freely about a situation.

Hats suppress the thinking. So the men don't want you to think for yourself and want to impose their beliefs on you.

So they crossed the line and tried to suppress your own way of thinking? Just some further thoughts to ponder.........
