Hi all just wanted to ask if any sufferers out there ever use essentials oils. My partner Thinks using things like this is a lot of nonsense.
The last time he was in therapy his T discussed the power of using smells; Finding a smell and putting it on the likes of a handkerchief using it when he’s triggered.

However in the last few months I have bought a diffuser and have been using oils at night ie lavender etc.
I have done a lot of reading online about Copaiba oil??
Has anyone here used this at all, if so has it helped?
Or any other essential oils out there that they found have helped??

I have never even heard of copaiba oil, and I know it’s not one of the more common essential oils as it’s not one of those that comes in starter packs (which can still have a good assortment of oils).

Can you expand more on this particular oil and what it does?

Thanks!

Copaiba’s sourced from tropical South America, and it’s derived from the resin of the (you guessed it!) Copaiba tree, which can grow upwards of 100 ft. The tall, dark + handsome type. This magical oil has been used by Brazil natives since the 16th century in all sorts of traditional health practices – so you know it’s good.
Okay, now onto the ridiculously amazing therapeutic benefits. Let’s first circle back to that CBD parallel that I mentioned above.
For a little background, specific chemical components are classified as cannabinoids by their ability to interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS focuses on maintaining homeostasis (aka balance) within the body, and regulates all sorts of different functions related to the brain, central nervous system, endocrine system, and immune system.
There are three primary types of cannabinoids that are derived from plants: THC, CBD, and BCP. The first two, THC and CBD, come from the cannabis plant, which unfortunately presents some legal challenges (and THC also has psychoactive effects, which some peeps would rather not experience). But BCP is found in various other (legal) plants, like Copaiba, and it has the same therapeutic benefits as other cannabinoids without the psychoactive effects. Best of both worlds!
Now, let’s walk through a quick general overview of the systems and functions it’s able to influence so you can get an idea for the different ways to use it.
MOOD: Soothes anxious feelings and balances emotions, relieves tension and fatigue
SKIN: Promotes a clear, smooth complexion, reduces signs of aging, promotes cellular regeneration, soothes irritations, promotes collagen production
IMMUNE SYSTEM: Powerful antioxidants fight free radicals, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM: Soothes cramps, gas, bloating, ulcers, sluggish digestion, protects the liver, supports healthy detoxification
NERVOUS SYSTEM: Supports brain health (neuroprotective), protects nerve cells, regulates inflammatory response
PAIN: Powerful anti-inflammatory, soothes sore, achy muscles and joints, soothes spasms and cramps, soothes headaches
CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM: Supports healthy blood pressure, stimulates healthy blood flow, supports strong blood vessels
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM: Kills pathogens in respiratory system, soothes allergies (antihistamine), congestion, sore throat, soothes inflammation
The buzz is building around this incredible powerhouse of an essential oil, and studies to further the research on its therapeutic effects are popping up left and right.
Sounds pretty epic, right?! ....

I use essential oils in my practice, but have not yet tried Copaiba (although I have it - my practice is new, so I'm just getting started with the oils). From folks I know who also use oils, it is really good to create relaxation, when diffused or applied topically.

I use other oils for a variety of issues - peppermint for headaches or stomach upset, frankincense for anxiety, etc.... I am a big believer in their use and healing properties, but it's important to use them properly.

I'm another person who practises aromatherapy. Since reading this thread, I've ordered Copiaba. I m really looking forward to trying.it out and I'm going to share it with my family too.
I love using oils. I find them very nurturing, effective and enjoyable to use.
I've used them for many family ills and health issues, during childbirth, for stress, you name it ... I self massage with my own blends and make blends for my families maladies. Sandalwood was one of the things that bonded me, from the beginning, with my wonderful partner of 8 years. Yes, I'm a big believer and everyday user of a ever growing selection of oils. Thank you for the Copaiba tip! Can't wait to try it out! :)

I make up a blend of Lemon, Peppermint and Lavender for people who can't sleep. They are selling like hotcakes and it is all just word of mouth. Essential oils are great for people with PTSD because the fragrance hits the brain right away through the olfactory centre. So the relief is immediate. I have a Lime blend that kicks the crap out of dissociation.

Also, looking up essential oils that are nervines was super helpful to me. I have a whole bunch of them at this point. Labdanum is a nervine that comes to mind and back in the day before pill popping, Labdanum was used to calm the nerves. Which is exactly what a nervine is supposed to be used for.

They've been a tremendous help to me AND they are part of my self care routine. I make soap, toothpaste, creams, sprays (magnesium), compresses and special salt and sugar mixes with EO's. The DIY's keep my interest and my senses going.

I have PTSD. I am about to embark on a journey with Copaiba oil. I have been using cannabis oil (without the THC activated), however Law Enforcement in my country takes a dim view of this DANGEROUS DRUG. This is why I am now looking for an alteran=tive to the Cannabis Oil I have been using.

I have been using Copaiba for pain. I take internally and also simply inhale.

My new favorite is Frankincense. I use it in my practice with animals a lot and use it myself for anxiety.

I like to try too. I thought EO cannot be taken internally. Sometimes i want to add lavendar or this blend called happy hormones to hot water and drink.

Yes I have a practice

I have never heard of this

I find Bergmont, Sandlewood, Rosewood grounding, especially Bergmont calms my anxiety. These as well as Lavender are good for grounding foot bath

I use May Chang as a balancer. It is an adaptogen and helps to even out what is missing/out of balance

I use Geranium as an upper/spirit lifter
