There is a lot of worry there for you Kathy I hope she comes through ok. Its a shame your weekend in the city is not under different circumstances. All the best to Evie!

Well Jen, we will try to enjoy ourselves nonetheless. We are returning to the spa where Evie sent us originally, using the voucher we obtained after our abrupt departure. Evie will be ill from treatments Friday-Sunday and likely sleeping the majority of the time. Sunday we have a reservation at the cancer lodge, so we will be moving there after 2 nights at the spa. I believe the spa will still be very pleasant for us, and will make Evie happy as well, as she truly wanted us to have a nice time.

Have a safe trip, Kathy. Please send my best wishes to Evie and Jim, too. I'm sorry she can't go swimming, what a shame. I'm praying her surgery goes well.

Thank you Hodge. Yes Evie loves swimming, and the pool at the hotel is something really special, very uniquely designed with a waterfall, rocks and so on. However with Evie's central line, a sort of semi-permanent IV inserted in her chest, she is not able to swim, as chlorine could get into the tubing and cause problems for her.

Thank you Wendy, I do hope everything goes well and I am able to enjoy myself without worrying! I may be on the forum again tomorrow before I leave, however after that I will be offline until Tuesday likely. Evie has her laptop with her in the city, however I feel like a computer break so I will likely not use it! Do take care all.

Kathy, you impress me with your bravery and resilience everytime I read one of your posts. Good luck to Evie and you, Jim and the rest of your family with the surgery.

Evie went into surgery a few minutes ago. The surgery was supposed to take place tomorrow morning; however there was some mixup and so she is having it now. The sooner the better as far as I'm concerned. Jim and I are waiting here at the "mall" part of the hospital, until Evie is out of surgery. I have Evie's laptop which is a Godsend at the moment! If not for the opportunity to come on here and post a bit I think I would be going frantic with worry over the surgery not going well! I wish I could be more like Jim, who is drinking a coffee and reading the paper and doesn't seem concerned at all. Or perhaps he's simply very good at hiding his concern!

If God forbid there are complications with Evie's surgery, Jim and I will be remaining in the city for a few more days, and will likely not be online much. If however things go as well as we hope, we will have her home by Tuesday at the latest. We are praying for the latter, obviously! :wink:
