And I'm devistated......Such sadness...that we, us, people, PTSD.....

It truly rips through every part of our being.....I can't believe I have PTSD.

I can't believe that I can related to what he is talking about.....it's surreal.

I sobbed my way through it but I finished it in a week or two. Very insightful and triggering.

My therapist is looking into getting it and reading it after my suggestion to him.

I really cried when I saw him mention that sexual violence victims are tense and hold memory in their vagina and/or anus.

I thought I was alone and crazy for having so much tension and sensation and shyte in my vagina, but it's normal!

So, so good. And triggering. I need to reread it because I kept dissociating. My husband is reading it now and is really enjoying it. He says I make so much more sense now! I guess that's good? But also really sad.

@pixel

I'm only 4 chapters in(is about 300+ pages) and Yes, I would recommend it. It's a front line book on Trauma, it's really incredible. SAD...but incredible.

Wow, I can't believe the responses here. I read Peter Levine's Waking the Tiger, and had a pretty visceral reaction to it, but nothing like crying, getting triggered, or having to put it away.

Has anyone else read Levine's book? How would you compare it to Van Der Kolk? Is it worth my while to read the latter if I've read the former?

And about the book triggering -- is that something to worry about? Is it ultimately cathartic or what?

Thanks.
