First ever out-of-state job interview!

I just completed a 3-day trip out of state for a job interview. Not only was this my first time flying alone (I HATE flying!), but I had to take care of everything myself from car rental to navigation with no help from anyone. It was exhausting, but I handled myself with aplomb and got everything done right.

The interview itself was rife with potential triggers, since I've been looking for work for over a year, and am used to people taking one look at me and sending me on my way, and I was being interviewed for employment by therapists. This time though, I decided to stay grounded in the now, enjoy myself with the process, be personable, and try to really sell myself. Seems to have worked, they really liked me and are continuing the hiring process! The best part is, its a job in my field, so my education and experience will finally be put to good use and bring me some income!

I did have to deal with old mental habits, and even recognized a meltdown from overstimulation the day I arrived. I was able to allow the uncomfortable feelings and thoughts, knowing what caused them and that things would be different in the morning. I was able to go out into the community and socialize with strangers, and also recognize when I'd had enough and do what was necessary to keep myself on an even keel. This trip was so educational, fun, and empowering in so many ways!!

Hoping I hear back from the company soon, and hope we can negotiate a good employment deal. I really liked this place, so laid-back and easy-going personnel. The town was adorable too, and I could feel my insides un-knotting the longer I stayed there.

They offered me the position!! An entry-level Case Worker position at a mental health clinic! All I have to do is find an affordable place to live with my 2 dogs, and I'm moving!! Such a relief, I hope I can actually keep this job....
