For the love of chickens

They are so hilarious @DharmaGirl!

They are AMAZING!

They were flapping and flying up to the higher pole which I didn't think that they would do. We have made them four brooders so far. They keep outgrowing them! LMAO

They cheep so loudly if we don't let them be with us.

I had one that was so attached, she would jump out of her brooder and jump into my bed to sleep with me! When you only have a few, they love you lots!

You're chicken parents now.

I've sold half my flock. It's so sad. Rose, my black copper maran that I'm keeping, is helping me pack. It takes me twice as long to do anything but she is good company. I've sold some chicks too, and I've lowered the price so I can sell everything but the breeding stock. All my old ladies are going to retire and have a good life where I'm moving. I took some up and they were really pleased.

Rose, poor soul, was determined to fly through the dog door once she saw the dog using it. Whomp, over and over. She never made it. All the chickens are at the new place with my son. I keep thinking, oh, I'll give this to the chickens, forgetting they are not here. I had a trailer reserved at Uhaul, but the guy was not helpful at all! I couldn't bring up everything I wanted to so I might try again at another Uhaul.

My chickens are in their new home, at least the ones I took with me. I sold all the pullets and have about 65 chicks of various ages. Mostly polish, orphington, and white rock. I need to rehome a bunch of roosters and chicks, and when the barn is built, separate the ones that are breeders and put them in their pens. I can't believe that 23 out of 25 chicks hatched while driving to my new home. I had the incubator in my truck.

They are getting used to their new home, and as soon as I sell some chicks I don't want, I want to buy more orpingtons. Only if the post office can handle the mail. I wish they could get their funding, since they were having a hard time keeping up with the increased mail because of the pandemic. One order of chicks sat in a post office for two days and they all died.

There's a rooster that crows in my neighborhood on and off throughout the day. I have never seen him, but I love hearing him. I love most birds, so he's just one of the gang.

I am learning how to speak a bit of chicken and hilariously the chicken noises in the middle are the favourite part of this song.
