I think economically and professionally gender inequality (particularly financially) is very relevant in many areas. For example, where I live one is paid more to raise a pig than a child (seriously). But perhaps the disparity is widening more in social class than gender. Many people do not make a living wage, and these are often areas of service, or child care, or physical care of any others for that matter (which predominantly are populated by women).
That being said, I love the differences between men and women, I think they are complementary. I also think men suffer in ways, and through the expectations of others, that many do not acknowledge or understand.
I have had to deal with a lot of "perv's" in my life. All were men. Some were child abusers, to do or try to do what they did to a child, I don't think it was a 'gender' issue. I've worked hard not to hate men or to paint them all with the same brush. I think rape and attempted rape are crimes of violence, control and power. Throwing in alcohol or drugs doesn't help, or being outnumbered.
I hate though the fact that a man can physically overpower me, because of their size.
But, I think for the men who would not do such a thing, or would speak out, or defend someone, or protect them, they make up for a lot. That's more a definition of a 'man' to me, especially in relation to what it means to be a woman. JMHO.
