And to continue demonstrating what is coming, this user who registered I traced back to agolubi.org, which is a rape portal, and not in a good way, but more about exploiting women to rape and filming it. Does this help enlighten members further to what is going on behind the scenes? People who want to rape people and film it are trying to access here, porn spammers x 2 deleted today also, mobile phones, car parts, you name it, all trying to get in here and spam or disrupt the forum.

Yes, rules aren't going to stop these people trying, but it may make it prevelanent to those who want to register legitimately, why they are currently in moderation and so forth. I think a COC / Rules, whatever you want to call them, may also help those who are wondering why they cannot immediately post understand!

That just made me violently ill. Talk about a trigger. Thank you for being so viligant Anthony. I couldn't handle being preyed on again, as I'm sure quite a few of us on here will have the same reaction.

This just reinforces my belief that there are SICK people in this world...and getting sicker, thanks to the shrinking of the world through the WWW.

However, I am grateful to it...because w/o it, I'd never be here chatting with so many wonderful people!

Hello, I've been away a while and have said much on another thread about my foibles and anger attacks. I know I get out of control in an ugly and destructive way, I admit that and try to take responsibility for it. But I've just found this:

I am bewildered and shocked and honestly do not understand where this comes from. Could you post a link to where 'I' said this? It is complete bull. I know if I've been branded a liar, telling you I'm not a liar will be branded a lie, but I have never been to the US in my life, have never wanted to apply to any army, and have lived in England my entire life with no links to any other country. Has somebody been posting under my name?

Ok, I can't find the conversation now... maybe we removed it. So sorry purdy about using your name, not sure why I thought it was you... the conversation was in regards to someone here wanting support to lie to the military as they had already been accepted, and how they weren't going to disclose they had PTSD to them. As the story went, the military is a job that can cause PTSD, and then compensate for it, hence why the ethical nature of that member garnishing support was wrong.

I am sorry purdy for putting your name... not sure why I though it was you, or the username started with "P". Please accept my apology, my mistake 100%.

Ok, thanks to the help of veiled, I found the user and conversation. The user I was referring to was not purdy, but instead cdunny, in this thread: [DLMURL]http://www.ptsdforum.org/thread992.html[/DLMURL]

Some of the posts where removed from the thread, but basically cdunny wanted support to join the military and not disclose PTSD. This is an example of what I will not put up with, as I really don't like liars, and I will not condone such things upon this forum, nor anyone gathering support to lie in order to help them feel better about their act/s.

Again, sorry purdy, I mixed you up with Cdunny.

But we have to keep in mind that this was where things get sticky as when and what to do about something, because shortly after being told what she did not want to hear like many of us, she got to this point in this other thread she later followed up with [DLMURL]http://www.ptsdforum.org/thread1049.html[/DLMURL]

So that shows where hard and fast rules are hard to apply. But also why it should be made clear you may not like the approach here or be ready for it. Sometimes you have to hit the bottom first to start to get it.

Hi, thanks Anthony, I was rather startled! As I say elsewhere, I'm the first to admit my flaws and unangelic behaviour (when I'm not in the middle of an attack, alas). I'll try to absorb the spirit of the rest of the thread regarding how I can better channel my rages, though. :smile:

I really am so sorry purdy... I should have checked first... but couldn't find it, and tried to remember, and for some reason you name popped into my head, but then when veiled mentioned cdunny, the light switch clicked... and I went looking. Because we edited the thread was why I had trouble tracking it down... damn it. So sorry though purdy, and I learnt a lesson... always check before I speak.

I have reviewed all the posts in this thread with much interest. Several thoughts came to mind:

1.) Anthony, do you need help with all the incoming members? Perhaps a triage system. You could do a quick over view of them and delete the obvious spammers. Ones that may need some further checking on could be handled by you. The people that appear legit could be directed to a Welcome Thread.

2.) Perhaps as a final step of gaining access to the forum could be a simple questionairre. This would help verify "good" email addresses as well as give you an idea of someones' intent. i.e. What made you want to join this forum?, or What are your expectations from this group?

3.) The Moderators could be part of welcoming new members once they have gotten past the first 2 steps. I like the idea of having everyone posting in a Welcome thread for a little while. Like the case of "pity-me" boy, those intentions become obvious quickly.

4.) I also liked the suggestion for a method of reporting suspected bad behavior (above and beyond our normal pissy day of course). I enjoy reading the posts and replies from the variety of personalities; I actually pick up tips on communicating with irrational or out of control people (or not fueling their fire all together) when to challenge, support or just sit back and listen.

I think we all agree that we are a Vulnerable Community.
Vulnerable simply because not everyone in the world is nice;
and a Community because we share common bonds and support eachother.
