Grieving The Lack Of Mother

I'm not sure what a "normal" child-parent relationship with a secure attachment is like. I asked one of my friends the other day what her relationship was like with her mother. It was oddly comforting to read and try to imagine it.

It's weird, it just makes me kind of sad. I'm in my late 30s so a lot of my peers have little kids, and hearing parenting anecdotes about a father comforting his 2 year old at the dentist or a mother teaching her son little tidbits of emotional self reliance sometimes make me feel so jealous. It's silly! But so many of them are great, stable people and I'm still so angry I didn't have a single person in my life growing up. It's like I'm surrounded by awesome parent figures NOW, when it's way too late.

its great that you have found positive parent figures that's special and does not happen for many people. I have given up on this quest I just keep on getting hurt and hurting people in this quest for a surrogate parent figure and as someone else on this thread said its pretty sad when your a 33 year old male and your still pining for mummy to make it all better. time to grow up and move on
