Has It Happened To Anyone?

I have a ton of physically trapped nightmares. And was physically trapped in the past. Some...
I feel more trapped and tied down from emotions. But l am moving foward. Sorry that you suffer that particular theme. It's an extreme helplessness that requires a lot of courage to move past. It's amazing what we can walk through in our lifetime. How have you taken back the control in your life?

One thing I have found to be a little bit helpfull is stating out loud "It is 2016 and I am safe", this does not allways resolve it yet it reminds me to be here and now as best as I am able.
C.M, I always add the year when I write the date. I really do get confused sometimes. I guess it is even easier as I'm not currently employed and I do not get out and about very much. So no matter what I'm writing, I add 2016. Ideally this helps me remember where and when I actually am, instead of drifting aimlessly.

I tag you 3 again because you are talking about nightmares lol. Sorry if its annoying.

After the traumatic events who caused ptsd I had nightmares about the events themselves. Now years after I can still have nightmares with these themes but less often. But ofc i still have nightmares almost all nights. Most of them are about me failing at something and someone either yells at me or insults me or makes fun of me. Sometimes i attack them physically with tons of hate. All these come from emotional flashbacks from my childhood when both my parents but especially my father abused me emotionally. Deep wounds. And its even worse because im a male, and in my opinion if the abuser is the same sex parent it damages you more spherically. During my nightmares i feel just like the way i felt then. And eventually i attack, something i wanted to do back then so badly, but i couldnt, but my attacks are so weak that this someone laughs.

Someone asked how you deal with nightmares. It depends. Most of the times working on trauma through therapy gradually resolves all these. If your conscious brain deals with it correctly, your subconscious also follows but a bit slower. That being said, im not even close to handle my traumas yet, especially the long term childhood ones.
