@Anarchy thanks for that video. Same message presented through the lens of CPTSD. It was worth watching.?Tara Brach goes deeper into the sympathetic nervous system and offers practice of guided meditations. I totally agree with them both: that people with a trauma history should not go it alone.
 
I meditate daily and it has really helped me. I use guided meditations as they are easy and you know how long they are going to take.
 
I sometimes wish I could meditate, the closest I've ever come to it, is when I "drift off on one" as I call it. That's when I go into a different place, I just stare at something, and time seems to pass me by?

It happened yesterday when I was at the hospital, I was just sitting there staring at the pattern in the floor, where I could see faces, cars and various other things within the floor pattern.

Next thing I knew was, someone shaking my shoulder asking if my name was correct, apparently twenty minutes had simply slipped by me?
 
I have not been meditating.
I will try again, but I think that I...may still be unready for the amount of pain that meditating is going to set loose...and since I broke up with my fiancée I have no real help with that pain.

...I guess I have to anyway.
