Hi fish out of water and welcome.

Perhaps if you could expand a little, members could share their experiences.

I was involved in an accident in 2010 which resulted in three deaths and 20+ of us injured including myself. I was with one of the injured when they passed away. I was very badly injured and spent one week in intensive care and multiply weeks in hospital. I have still not fully recovered and the specialists said I will prob never will. Life is very hard, sleeping, flashbacks, commuincation with others, travelling and dealing with everyday issues. Medication has helped a little but somedays I just dont want to be here and sometimes think that with the level of pain I am in it would of better if I had replaced one of the fatally injured. I get so confused and I struggle with not being in control of my life and how I feel.

Hi Fish Out Of Water,

Welcome to the PTSD Forum. Your thoughts are very common in that life seems to be such a struggle after a trauma, that it is just so hard to deal with. But the good news is, it can get better and you can actually start to enjoy your life again. Just prepared to accept that it will be different, but different can be just as good and as rewarding as it was before.

This site is a great place for information, support and ideas. Please make sure that you keep your medical team and your mental health team in close contact with each other. I truly believe that healing the "whole person" should be the focus and not trying to break it down into a bunch of different pieces. But remember, each part of us heals at a different rate.

Best Wishes!
Debbie
