I haven't been diagnosed, but I survived long-term relentless verbal/psychological abuse, occasional physical abuse, another terrifying incident, occasional sexual abuse outside the home, and the onset of a debilitating illness due to an abusive family and two abusive boyfriends and have all the symptoms of PTSD.
On a brighter note, I'm looking forward to learning all I can about PTSD and how to help myself and others. We only have this one life and I'm determined to maintain a good attitude and to try my hardest to make healthy decisions.
I'm 20 years old, just transferred to a new college, and I enjoy playing soccer, reading, being in nature, yoga, and making people smile.

Hi Kendal, welcome to the forums. We have lots of information about PTSD and very supportive members which makes it a good place to check things out. If you do suspect PTSD it's worth seeing a professional who can offer a diagnosis - not everyone who experiences trauma goes on to develop PTSD, in fact most don't and there are lots of symptoms which overlap with other conditions.

Diagnosis will help you access appropriate treatment for whatever is going on with you. In the meantime, enjoy having a look around here.

@Kendall S Welcome! :)

If possible, a definitive diagnosis can really help a p...
Thanks! I definitely will. I was diagnosed with adjustment disorder after I was diagnosed with narcolepsy last year but never mentioned the other stuff until recently. I was supposed to have my psychologist appointment this afternoon, but he cancelled for an emergency. I rescheduled the appointment for Friday, but in the meantime, do you guys have any quick tips/basic advice on coping for the rest of the week? I meet all of the DSM diagnostic criteria for PTSD and also have the symptoms of Complex PTSD, so I think it'll only be a matter of time before I have a genuine diagnosis.

Welcome to the forums :hug:
I hope the diagnostic process is going okay

Good luck in recovery and hugs :)
