How Did You Sleep Last Night?

Jen, do you have an ipod or mp3 player? I downloaded and listen some relaxation podcasts. They help me to relax and fall asleep when I'm having problems with anxiety.

Yuck, I didn't sleep last night, maybe 2 hours total and even then my mind was racing. My gorgeous little dog allowed herself to be my teddy bear and I was able to lay with my arms around her with my head resting with hers on my pillow.

Cuddles with pets are the best thing when they allow themselves to be used as cuddly squishy toys. :inlove:
As I speak, my kitten is cuddling on my feet, and my other rescued cat is on my right side for the occasional pat.....mmm, cuddles :D

I slept good last night. Went to sleep cuddling my H. I sleep good everynight. No nightmares at all. I am on meds for sleeping and meds to keep me from remembering my nightmares. Works for me. I need my sleep.

Since I started my medications I've been having strange dreams. Last night there was this awesome comic that turned into a series that had the most awesome comedic/adventure zombie-mutant-apocalypse storyline. I woke up and was SO disappointed it wasn't real, because I was reading that thing like it was a drug.

I might be trying to write that comic soon.

I couldn't sleep at all last night and haven't been able to sleep in a few days. Today I took a sleeping pill.... hopefully I can sleep tonight :)

I'm a bit hit and miss with sleeping tablets, some days they work and I am knocked out cold, and other days I dream all night but the sleeping tablet prevents me from waking up, so by the end of the night I'm a shaking wreck.

It seems to be that the more tired I am, the worse the nightmares are.

I slept 7 hours again! Yay! Oh that makes me so happy. :D The more positive I am, the more relaxed I am, and then I get more sleep! :D Hey I figured out why I'm an insomniac.

Wishing everybody else a restful sleep. Here's a few tips if you need it.

  • Try meditating- put on some calming music a half hour before sleep and meditate- concentrate on deep breathing (there's an article on it in the PTSD wiki somewhere.. just focus on the breathing and the noises around you.. It's helpful if you close your eyes for this as well.)

  • Drink a glass of warm milk. Put some milk in a mug, put that in the microwave for I believe it's thirty seconds, then after drinking it you feel sleepy. I think there's the chemical that is in turkey that is also in milk that makes you sleepy- but that's just my opinion. I'm too lazy to try to back that up right now. Anyway, it makes ME sleepy, a minute later I fell right to sleep.

  • Try doing the fourteen day challenge. I'm working on it (Fourth attempt.) and I've discovered that I usually fail at night, so this time I just did stuff like read the "List your joke to brighten PTSD" and the "The Little Things in Life- what makes you happy?" threads, and then I did my homework, and before I knew it- it was bedtime, I hadn't thought of one negative thought, and I went straight to sleep.

  • Try using a stuffed animal. I have Teddy- he's a classic teddy bear. I snuggle with him and squeeze him. I've had him since I was a baby, and it's helpful to know that I have something to comfort me, even if it does seem a little childish at times.

Here's to hoping everybody gets a good sleep! It's important for your health, it can help reduce stress, and it is important to be well-rested so that you can function the next day! Hope these tips help!

Jen.

Hunni, teddies are awesome, I'm 22, and when I was in hospital, I had's me a teddy bear, and when my sister was in hospital, we gave her several of her and my favourite teddies.....and she was much happier snuggling up.

Teddies rock, they are the best especially when they have a nice perfume or a smell that reminds you of something nice.
