How Did You Sleep Last Night?

Sleep was very bad again. This past couple months I don't feel rested at all. I wake up many times a night, sitting up and falling over has become the norm. Simply taking OTC sleep aids just isn't cutting the mustard anymore. I do have sleep apnea, which is my main concern and I know is a major culprit. Fortunately the Prazosin is still working, though occasionally I will purposely decide to not take the drug so that I can dream (which I feel is important now and then). I just pray it isn't another nightmare when I choose to do so.

I am taking steps to better my quality of life however. The constant fatigue throughout the day, falling asleep on the bus or in the car, or simply watching television has started to break me. Today I got a prescription for Ambien, and I hope I take well to the drug. Another thing I have done for myself is start the process of being evaluated for a sleep study. Next week I will be seeing a sleep specialist and will be given the device that measures my oxygen saturation during sleep over a period of time. If all goes well I will qualify for the sleep study. I am confident that I will finally have the major sleep issues that have been plaguing me for so long finally dealt with. I don't even know what restful sleep feels like anymore.

Terrible; I thought I woke up in the early hours of the morning and heard my kids talking and the front door open and close like they had gone out. I was really worried someone was taking them and I was trying to shout out to them and pull myself out of bed, but I could not use my voice or shout at all and I could not move and I was desperately trying to shout out and move but I was frozen and terrified.

I think it was one of my nightmares where I wake up paralysed and cannot talk or move. Absolutely terrifying.

Yesterday I had the worst migraine because the night before I did not sleep at all. Nightmares woke me up during the night two times so I think I slept around 3 hours. The first nightmare a man was trying to get into my house and I kept trying to lock the deadbolt but it just kept spinning and would not engage while he was pushing his way in. After I got back to sleep I had another one where my little boy was tossing a red coin onto the ground and running and picking it up. This lady grabbed the coin and tossed it further away and he happily chased it. I was chasing after him and he ran the opposite way without the coin. I tried to pickup the coin and there were so many bottle caps and things that it made it difficult finding the coin. I looked up and could not see my son. I realized that this woman did this as an avertion to steal my son or kidnap him so I started running and woke up. Major headache.

I was glad the kids had school so once I dropped them off I just tried to nurse my migraine and sleep it off. It did not work but last night was able to get better sleep and only have a 'light' headache today. Glad not to have the nightmares I had the night before. I find if I have a night of bad nightmares I always have headaches.
