How Do I Trust Feeling Better?

Hi Everyone!

This may sound strange but how do I start trusting that I'm feeling better?

I got fired from my job back in August due to forgetting too many details and being too emotional. I just couldn't get the tears to stop flowing.

Since I got fired, I've gone into therapy headfirst and have joined a group, am swimming and playing my clarinet every day, and am doing yoga designed around those who have experienced trauma.

I'm starting to feel like some of the events I've experienced aren't so emotionally charged anymore. They happened to me, flipped my life upside down, and really sucked but I'm tired of running scared all the time.

How do I trust/know that I'm really getting better; that the old me is really here to stay?

I'm glad that you are feeling better. That's an improvement, and something to be happy and proud about.....I am guessing that you are managing your symptoms better too......

The biggest thing, is that you can flare again, when something triggers you, you get too stressed, or for a number of different reasons. PTSD dosen't just go away, you must maintain it.......Waiting for the other shoe to drop??? Yeah, that one is a hard one to let go of. We are so used to being sick, that when we feel good, it's hard to handle and accept.......

You will have good days, and bad. Cherish the good while they are here. Deal with the bad ones when you have them... But the main thing....ENJOY what you have worked so hard to achieve.....You deserve it....
 
Hi Healing,

I searched through a local magazine and saw an ad for "Trauma Yoga".

The yoga group I joined is led by a social worker so it's very controlled and guided. We have a holistic magazine called, "Many Hands" that has alternate healing therapies.
