As a person who was the guy that had some very big rages, I feel for you women . I admire you for sticking by your man. Or girl for the men.
I look back just 11 months ago and think What the Hell was I doing? As i was reading your post I went and gave my wife a kiss and thanked her. She stood by for 8 years dealing with me. Well she still does but she does not fear the rages any more . She even gives me a kick once in a while. Something I know she was afraid to do before. What the future holds for you is in your hands. Stay safe , love and do what you can. Maybe contact some of his friends and have them go with you to see a person from the VFW or other vet places. Get some info. The help from a friend will be better IMO . If his friend is a vet that is even better. That is my thought. I am far from knowledgeable .
