How do you have compassion for yourself?

self compassion in the middle of problem day is difficult. I guess trying to recognize when my suffering is serving no purpose and doing something about it. I have so many things I'm trying to be mindful of and when panic/anxiety strikes my mental capacity takes a dive.

I show myself compassion by slowing down, grounding, mindful visualizations and breathing. Those are the nuts and bolts but I know I can do better at just giving myself a break. Allowing time for processing, healing and growing. All this stuff is best case scenario, often times self compassion is last on the list if I still have ink in the pen.

I go for self respect, not self compassion. If I’ve f*cked up? It’s my responsibility to fix it, not...

Everyone has awesome responses!

I think I’m going to follow @Friday ‘s lead and focus on self respect. It’s not that I won’t practice self compassion, it’s just that I realize my head is in much more of a “self respect” kind of place.

Thanks all!

When my son was a newborn, I would look at him and be overwhelmed by love and compassion for this tiny being. One day I was struck with the idea that I visualize my inner child, and hold her the same way. I did. I did this over and over. It helped a lot. Maybe I need to do it some more now.
