How Do You Live Life After Ptsd?

@Notsowild,
The three stages of recovery that I follow are 1) safety and stability, 2) processing the trauma, and 3) reintegration with life & society.

I found a 5 step healing model but I don't fully agree with it as steps 4 and 5 deal with reaching out and helping others who have been traumatized and/or have PTSD. I
Thank you so much Solara. Believe it or not you do reach out and help others. Your knowledge and wisdom on PTSD has helped me and I'm sure others immensely.

I think the greater question is: What do we do with that change? The change in your life has been profound, and you are certainly experiences some very negative affects from your trauma. So what are you going to do with the change?.
Thanks Russ for all your kind words and encouragement. That is one tough question. After I get better I would like to educate people about PTSD. I wanted to start with where I work but management still doesn't want it "out". Like - "we know it exists but we don't want to speak about it". That's probably one of the hardest things for me too. I have no one to talk to about it at work. I feel like the alien in the building.

I understand completely how you feel. It is the same way with me. That is one reason I am thankful for the forum; we have people here we can "talk" to who understand what we are dealing with.

I also want to educate others; not so much about PTSD, but the long-term effects of bullying which PTSD is one of those effects.

I hope my words to you have encouraged you; you stand strong, and keep working at getting better.

Thanks again Russ and everyone else for all your kind words. I am just feeling overwhelmed by working, healing and uncaring people. I felt like going to the ER last night. I was not having great thoughts.

Guess I'll keep trudging away at life.
Thanks again everyone:hug:

As a supporter this thread has helped to clear up much of my own confusion about what sufferers go through.

I'd just like to take this chance to say thank you to all of you for posting, because you certainly are helping others with PTSD or whether through educating their supporters like me. You ALL make a change, just by sharing.

Even though I've never met any of you, just from reading these posts and knowing the courage it takes to sign up, I believe in every single one of you! There is no definite road to recovery, but there is a road to a new you.

Hugs and support to all
