I like to sleep with the doors closed and with my partner on the side of the bed that is closest to the door; this is one of my stipulations if we go away on holiday also. I feel much safer that way. It has also taken me a long time to learn to sleep without ear phones in my ears, playing loudly enough that I can't hear any sounds in the room because otherwise every little noise would get my heart racing and me up trying to work out what made the sound. I now listen to relaxation apps on my phone to help me sleep and hopefully improve my general well-being, but this is relatively new to me so I don't know if they make much difference yet.
