How To Motivate Yourself?

Thanks @Sweet_E! I think some of this fall asleep everywhere is partially...

Yeah, you have a lot on your plate! Have you tried any meditation or creative visualization techniques to fall asleep? For me, I have a habit of watching youtube as I fall asleep - I find a topic that is interesting to me, where I don't necessarily need to see the picture. It makes me think about whatever the person is talking about instead of my problems. Eventually I would like to break out of that habit but it works for now.

You could also try making a "to do list" before bed, to include things like "Figure out dog crate" so at least you are consciously capturing that to think about the next day.

My body has crashed on me, and it's been crashed for some time. On weekends I sleep all day....
I felt this same way for way too long. So u started looking into ways I could help myself daily have a different perspective on life in general. Depression from PTSD can cause you to lose energy and all motivation to even move an inch. It will creep in and make you feel worthless and exhausted at all times. Key point here is tho I was ALLOWING it to happen. I was doing nothing to help myself gain a more positive perspective on life or the day to day moment to moment. I suggest start by doing positive affirmations in the morning. Read positive quotes. Read quotes about moving on and fighting harder. They really helped me. And don't have an agenda for yourself on days off or off days. Do what you can and what you can't forget. If getting out of bed is all u can manage then u accomplished something. Then add one thing at a time. Like shower. A load of laundry. It'll happen for you but its HARD work. Lots of it. And only YOU can do it. No one can do it for u. Make a change in ur mentality and positivity toward YOURSELF and ur self worth and it'll happen!!

I know, but thats whats frustrating me, causing more of a crash, i think. Im used to pushing my way through life. Like a bull charges. Head down and pushing through whatever. I cant seem to do that and its making me feel like im not trying hard enough or pushing hard enough and so i push harder...and crash harder.

Then add one thing at a time.

Some one else mentioned that. One more thing. I cleaned off the coffee table today. Not much but it is one more thing then most Saturdays.

Hmmm. Positive affirmations i know i need. Not sure about the quotes. I apply a lot of self judgement so i dont want it to have a reverse effect. Like "try harder you lazy ass" sort of thing.

Have a site that you like?

I cant sleep without visulation. Its how i get to sleep. Staying asleep is my issue though.

I need the myBivy watch when they finalize it. I'll pay a ton for that thing! Which, by the way, was on kickstarter but has gone silent? myBivy. And their facebook page has posts but everyone still asking when it will be available so obviously not yet.

I have games and a shit ton of networking teaching youtube vids if i want to bore myself to sleep. Plus i take meds to sleep. Staying asleep is the issue. And the nightmares. They've been horrid since my mom died.

I do that now. Im just a natural problem solver (rumminator) and my brain wont turn off til i figure the problem out so meds help to force my brain off.

Yep, ok, its 6:30am and still up...i take that back.

I hate it when i cant sleep because, unless i just stay up, i sleep all the next day...or forced into it by my body and then f*ck motivation.

UGH!! One f*cking break is all im asking for. Really!

I hear you! Hope you get that break soon!

I used to go through a pattern where I'd only get a good night's sleep after a night of not sleeping at all. I needed complete sleep deprivation first. Gradually my patterns have been changing for the better. In a twisted way, I kind of miss when I'd sleep less because I like being in the house when it's quiet and no one else is up. Now I'm sleeping more so there is less "me" time in the morning. However, I'm glad I'm sleeping more because its a sign I'm healing.

I hope you get those little signs to encourage you too.
