I contacted The American Music Therapy Association to get a list of certified therapists where I am at that specialize in PTSD. Guess what...they got 3 or 4 here in my area. I am going to call some of them in a bit and see if I can add that to my therapy. This way if I get stuck I can use music as well to help me. Knowing that there will be a certified therapist who will understand both being a musician and the healing aspects of therapy might be the final notch I need to succeed in my healing.

That is awesome! I never thought of that. I will have to see if there are any in my area. It would add to my multidiscipline approach to healing too. Let me know how it goes for you if you don't mind.

I will safenow. I just left messages with 2 of them. I started forming a plan not only for my therapy but for possibility to use this to work on my education towards a degree in Music Therapy. With my two therapists, and if I work really hard, I might be able to go down to Vocational Rehab to show them how serious I am about going to school and getting support for it. I got a long ways to go but it is something tangible, I can see, feel, and touch to help me step towards the bigger goals.

This started going around after yesterdays therapy session. It was a hard session and I felt old crap coming back, so I decided instead of pushing it, find ways to make me feel safer doing this work. My logic isn't the best at times when my stress is overrun. But Im thinking music will be away to keep with the feelings and allow me to put them into energy to reduce stress better.

Im not a therapist. Im a sufferer who is looking for a certified music therapist because of my talent in music. I want to use this in addition to the ACT therapist I work with right now. My final goal is to also go to school all the way to a Ph'D to be a certified music therapist because my love for working with the kids I have done in the past and with domestic violence. I want to bring two passions together but it's going to take alot of work to get there.

And Here's My Sign...wow...No I am not near San Angelo. I am near Fort Hood.

Well, anything worth getting is going to be difficult I suppose. All 5 therapist is a no go for around here. Either not trained in strings or trained enough in strings but not enough with trauma and PTSD. So plan B call the colleges.

Noone available around here. So guess the next best thing is to go ahead and just get a regular music teacher and do the work myself.

Be sure to keep us apprised on how it goes. Sounds like a wonderful idea to me. I just might get a keyboard again. While I can't use both hands, I can at least write some music. I can play with a few fingers. lol. You have inspired me, winterose. Thank you so much.
