Sufferer I Don't Know What To Do...

Hi ShyGirl,

After my trauma when I was 14/15, I developed social anxiety disorder and became a hermit. Gave up everything musical that I had enjoyed so much and just stopped interacting with people. The best advice I can give you about that is to just put yourself out there little by little and find someone you can trust and feed off of that. Once you learn to trust one person, it will feel more natural to be open with others without fear.

As for the ECT...if you are considering it as a fix for your PTSD symptoms, DON'T DO IT!! I was diagnosed with depression at 14 and was treated solely for that for 15 years, until I was 29. In those 15 years, I was tried on every anti-depressant available, hospitalized and had ECT for the first time when I was 18. I tried it on three different occasions, hoping to make this demon inside of me go away each time. But, it did not work. It didn't work because my depression is completely wrapped up in my trauma issues and until I get my trauma issues straightened out, my depression will keep showing it's face. I guess all I can say is if you are looking for relief solely from your PTSD, ECT is not the way to go in my opinion. If your depression is debilitating you and you don't feel that it is caused by your trauma, then maybe you should give it a try. Beware though, you may experience severe memory loss. I did and some of it has never come back.

Wishing you peace and calmness.

Hi bud ! Welcome to the forum. You are a survivor! I believe you have to hold on until you see a pychiatrist! When my flashbacks were bad I was very desperate and felt so alone. These flashbacks are your minds way of saying " hey, you stuffed all these scary, horrible experiences, thoughts and feelings in here and now what do I do with them"! Your mind is telling you that it wants to heal. It wants all this pain felt, so you can hold someone and cry and cry and cry.
And the pychiatrist might prescribe some meds to help as well. You're going to be fine my friend.
