I passed through the final gates and I officially became a PhD. Through all of the tears, depression, sleepless nights, clenching, worrying, and personal suffering, I finally did it.

It took me eight years to do this. I can't believe it is done. I am so tired from all of this work, yet so excited for whatever is next on my journey. I feel as though I've reached the mountain top after falling so many times. And I've feel like despite the rocks that were even thrown my way by so many people in my life, I made a decision to keep going anyway and blast through to "who I was meant to be."

For everyone who has listened to me, my worrying, and my anxieties on this Forum, thank you for all of your support in these last few months. From my heart to yours, I am humbled by all of you.

I put myself into my work, something I was passionate about, and made it through to the other side. And I've truly realized that PTSD and clinical depression did not limit me; rather, it propelled me to push even harder toward my dreams. I was never going to let my history determine my destiny.

Warmest to all of you, DR. RISING SUN

Dear Dr. Rising,

You are the bomb. Congratulations! I am so happy for you. This is a high, high, high achievement, and most importantly to me, it is one no one can ever take away from you.

I hope you feel like you are more than on top of a mountain. I hope you feel like you are on top of the world. :)

p.s. thanks also for the good message. In spite of my challenges, I've tried to focus on what I love and what I'm good at...helps me survive the rest and helps create meaning in my life. I feel like I'm meaning-making junky. I wonder if it's connected to trauma, but I've spun it into lots of good adventures. Keep following what you love and what keeps you curious about the world.

CONGRATULATIONS IN THE BIGGEST WAY I CAN THINK OF TO CONVEY MY ADMIRATION AND APPRECIATION FOR SHARING THIS HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT!!!!

This is really SO awesome, I 'had' to go a little 'overboard'? Not 'yelling' with capital letters...but speaking and singing with a microphone announcing your achievement!!!:tup::tup::tup::tup:

It means SO much to me, as a chronic clinical depression sufferer, and as one who 'lost' a career due to the fallout of many circumstances which I won't go into......that SOMEONE CAN AND DID FOLLOW THROUGH TO THE FINISH OF A HUGE GOAL.....:happy::happy:

THIS IS YOUR TIME!!!

It is AWESOME that you have not let your problems DEFINE you, and have used them as a 'ladder' or 'stepping stones', and refusing to quit no matter what trial came along. Whether it was tears, or depression, sleepless nights, clenching, worrying, and through personal suffering, YOU CONTINUED AND REFUSED TO BE STOPPED!!!

What a marvelous example to ALL of us, that we can push through, climb up and out of depression, turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones, and become more than a survivor....you are a THRIVING SUCCESS!!!

We each have our own battles, ''holes' to climb out of, goals to attain, but to have succeeded in getting your PhD...I say BRAVO, AND CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT!!!

Blessings and Encouragement in following your dreams to what is next! Relish every single happy moment, event, pat on the back, and acknowledge that YOU did this, YOU followed through, YOU deserve to be honored!!!

I hope my reference to my Higher Power does not offend you, it's the only way I know how to congratulate you to the best of my ability in my 'language'. The Hallelujah Chorus would be playing in my head and heart I know!!!

Power to you, and your next adventure!!!

Sincerely,
AKJ
