I hate feeling needy, 2x a week appointments?

Good. Now you can stop worrying about the therapy process and start working on the healing :) That stress cup that we all harp on about gets completely filled by issues such as worrying if it is OK to have extra therapy. In a way I would see this as catastrophising. Something important to you - having extra therapy - has been blown way out of proportion. I am sure you will look back and understand that.

I had a very flexible therapist and sometimes saw him 2 or three times a week, but mostly weekly or fortnightly. He even came to see me at weekends when I was a real mess. He said he would rather spend time listening to my woes or conducting EMDR than hear that I had been in a crisis for days and not called him.

Of course as you discovered - you T has a private life and cannot always be available. However to know that they will respond if they can is the basis of the trust such a relationship requires.
