If We All Lived In The Same Town....

I'm feeling the harshness of the world very keenly lately and had a hellish night last night. Once I emerged enough from my cocoon, this thread came to mind. Here are some ideas I'd like to see added to Shimmerzville.
1. Children are safe and protected wherever they go. Everyone treats them with love and respect and keeps an eye out for them, so they are free to roam and there is always someone to keep them safe. Their families always put their needs first.
2. The top priority is for everyone to get what they need. Food, shelter, and people who care are ahead of everything else. No one is concerned with making a profit or with any kind of artificially manufactured need. All the time freed by not pursuing the next rung on the ladder of success and creating the illusion of lack, is then freed up to make sure everyone has their basic needs met. We find there are more than enough resources to go around.
3. Due to the above, there is no need for money at all. Everyone can afford to be generous and use their skills and talents to improve conditions for everyone.
4. Promises are always kept.
5. Everyone is issued a magic wand they can use for whatever purpose they wish, as long as it doesn't infringe on what anyone else is creating. Want to make a trigger disappear? Just wave your wand. Want your own climate zone, say, tropical while the person next to you prefers snow? You can both have whatever you desire. Wands have shimmers on the ends that fly around every time you wave them in whatever colour you desire, appropriate to the name of the town.
6. No thunderstorms allowed. At least not around my place. I could create my own storm-free area with my wand if need be.
7. The power never goes out.
8. The words "just get over it" are banned.
9. It is illegal to walk away from someone who is suffering, unless you secure support from someone else to take over.
10. Unkindness of any kind is not allowed. Of course, it wouldn't occur to anyone anyway.
11. I'd like a house like a combination house and greenhouse, heated with passive solar, filled with edible and decorative plants and pools for lilies and goldfish.
12. Any circumstances creating cognitive dissonance or internal conflict are treated as a town emergency and immediately addressed until the issue is solved.
13. It is to be considered illegal to separate by force any two or more people who do not want to be separated.
14. Houses are magically kept clean and free of clutter by sensors that come out and night and magically set everything in order.
15. You become magically invisible to anyone you don't feel like talking to.
16. People are educated to understand differences and be kind about them. For instance, people would understand the difference between being shy and being unfriendly.

p.s. @shimmerz is pointing out something we need to add. There are lots of raspberry canes in Shimmerzville. The fruit is large and juicy, the season goes on a long time, and they are easy to pick so you don't have to bend and reach into the bushes. I'd add that the canes are strong enough to stand on their own so you don't have the work of staking them. @scout86, all right if we use some of the sheep manure to fertilize them?

I am just now seeing this thread and thus my late comment....

I think the idea of a township is wonderfully creative and imaginative on your part @shimmerz . I applaud your wisdom because it could be a wonderful place with free therapy for those who cannot afford it and a counsel of elders to help things run smoothly etc. We could make it into whatever is best for all concerned and really heal individually and as a group, just as we do here, with the added plus of being able to speak to one another eye to eye (or thru the computer if we wished to do that instead).

I imagine it would be a place of great light, healing, love and kindness, compassion and respect .....and the town would also have lots of beautiful mosaics, waterfalls, and places to chill and meditate.

I love this idea and I thank you because it gives me a "safe" place to go to where all is beautiful.

healing hugs if you accept them,
Lion

I love your idea of a counsel of elders. It would be a tribe based on the good of all, so of course we need the wisdom of those who have learned from long experience and have gentle guidance to offer the rest of us when we lose our way.

This is something to add to my vision of a community where children are safe anywhere they go. Of course, we need older, more experienced people who know how to counsel younger people and remind them of what is important. Laws then would not need to be based on fear but on gentle reminders of what we are and what we can accomplish together rather than apart.

I'm wondering about a new level to all this. This thread started out mainly about what people don't want, how to protect ourselves from triggers. And that's fine, we need to get that out of the way before we can begin to imagine anything better.

Then I wondered, what if we were all born in Shimmerzville and had been safe from the start? How would our lives have been different? How would our expectations be different? Would we even know ourselves with all the layers of trauma removed?

Then after that, I came to a new level. Suppose we had that security ingrained in us from the very beginning. Then suppose a new contingent arrived in town. A new batch of PTSD sufferers needing sanctuary in, say, a suburb of Shimmerzville. How would we approach this? How would we help?

I think the answer to this tells us a lot about the kinds of support we need to heal, right now, in the present. We aren't meant to do it alone, and we need a template for healing and for how life could be without trauma. We so often shut out support because we've been taught by much repetition that it's shameful to need it or that it is not to be trusted. Unlearning these lessons is key. It's human to give and accept support. Could that be the motto at the entrance to Shimmerzville?

I really like this idea! So if 1 person is sitting by a waterfall, the other person can manifest somet...
@shimmerz This is where I will chime in all practical and help you buy your groceries. Celery is just really water and fibre, so put that back and take the broccoli, or even better choose Broccolini cos it's like eating tiny trees. Food must be fun too and pretty.

help you buy your groceries.
lol. Seems like a simple concept doesn't it @Flossy? Not sure if I told the story of my ex who used to take me shopping, see that I was all messed up and then asked me to go buy a can of tomatoes or something. I would stand in the aisle for 20+ minutes (Until someone came to fetch me), confused and confounded by the choices. Frozen. Solid. lol. *heavy sigh* Will you be my babysitter when I go shopping? Or will the stores only have one selection per item? There must be a better way!

No, we won't need to have any stores, except for people who enjoy shopping. The rest of us can pick what we want off the trees and from the gardens that produce all year long. Want celery? Go to the garden and pick some. The deer, rabbits, etc. will have separate gardens to munch on and will have the wisdom to understand the difference and stay out of ours without any need for fencing. What isn't in your garden (orchard, studio, etc.) will be in your neighbour's, and people will happily trade and give away their surplus. No need to get stuck in front of the tomatoes ever again!
