This was passed on to me....

I thought some members here might enjoy it.

Twas the Month before Christmas

Twas the month before Christmas

When all through our land,

Not a Christian was praying

Nor taking a stand.

See the PC Police had taken away

The reason for Christmas - no one could say.

The children were told by their schools not to sing

About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.

It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say

December 25th is just a ' Holiday '.

Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit

Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!

CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-Pod

Something was changing, something quite odd!

Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa

In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.

As Targets were hanging their trees upside down

At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.

At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears

You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.

Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty

Are words that were used to intimidate me.

Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen

On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !

At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter

To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.

And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith

Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace

The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded

The reason for the season, stopped before it started.

So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree'

Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.

Choose your words carefully, choose what you say

Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS ,

not Happy Holiday !

Please, all Christians join together and

wish everyone you meet

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Christ is The Reason' for the Christ-mas Season!

Thank you for the reminder. This year, due to a turn of events, I will not be able to buy anything. I could charge it, but I am refusing to take on more debt. But it isn't a really a "shopping" season, and regardless if you are religious or not, it is a time to take stock of your blessings.

This year Christmas will be the a celebration of what is good in life. Family and friends, the important things that really matter.

Yep the question of not being able to freely and openly celebrate a christian festival should I so wish in my home town dismays me. Divali and chinese new year are having special events funded by the local council and i approve of it but wish my christian friends could go to see the christmas market, concert and lights as opposed to thw winter market, concert and lights.

Soldiers from my home town have fought for other peoples rights to practise thier religions in there own countrys yet on returning home have found that same right denied them.

Cromwellian..

It's been years that society has left behind the true meaning of Christmas. I don't have any Santa Claus decorations, just the nativity scene that I put lights around and an angel looking over baby Jesus. No one will stop me from saying Merry Christmas nor Happy Easter, even if I don't practice the catholic religion any more, I'm still a believer.

So what happened to freedom of speech, or is "MERRY CHRITMAS" included in the list of things you cannot now say in public.

Do you know what the real crazy thing is about all this.

If you take all the different religions, and strip them down to the very basics, they are all just about the same.

Hard to think that people cannot see it for what it is.

"Respect for all mankind"

I am not a Christian, but I think it is unbelievable that Christians don't have a right to celebrate the way they want. How can they try to take such a beautiful story away and make it only about money and things that aren't really important in the end?! Hang in there all of you Christians. There are alot of people that get angry about the fact that someones basic rights of belief is being limited. I truly do not understand it!!! I can say "Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday". What is the big freaking deal?????

Years and years ago, I remember Dad taking a stand on this, with being infuriated with abbreviating Christmas with 'Xmas'. He hated the stuffing out of that, for good reason. It literally takes the Christ out of Christmas. As an adult, I'm still not able to use that abbreviation-always always think of Christ in it when I'm tempted. It's about the story of Christ's birth, for heaven's sake. I don't know who X was, but I don't feel like celebrating his birth since he doesn't seem to have done much for mankind's benefit.

Cromwellian! That's very good! Boy, wouldn't the folks who witch about the manger scenes in public squares hate the heck out of that comparison but it's TRUE! Give one of the pious extremists from my party ( I hate to admit ) a really ugly haircut and you've got a Roundtop strong-arming religious views on the masses.

We still have a pretty little Nativity scene in the little town square near here. Gosh, it's nice to drive by that. I think every one is too busy to complain so we just get to drive by it and remember why all the fuss this time of year.

My city has the most bautiful set of nativity figures. As a chil we used to go see it all lit up under the tree in a nice open manger. Over the years it became a focus for theft snd vandalism so became encased in perspex. Then a few years ago once the religious aspect of the holidays bacame non pc it was moved into a chainstores window well away from the tree. Now due to the recession it is in another store in a window that overlooks a back street. Very sad.

If you have the chance to see all of the daily show clip it's actually quite funny.

Not that it should be, since that generally indicates something terribly contentious and this of course isn't at ALL but the thread could be locked after that post of Tessa's. It was like a benediction, leaving not-much else to say. I know I just did say something, but that's typical. :)

Anyway, that was perfectly wonderful. Thank you Tessa.
