This forum has a habit of attracting the wrong people sometimes, or some really sick veterans who inflame things.

If someone writes something you don't like 'IGNORE' it, unless it is directed at you.

Now the site is going to be f*cked up for weeks because of it. I personally did not sleep much last night.

Ignore is the best option in cases like this.

But on another note. While Red was getting heated up with the thread and M2 was fueling the fire, Why wasn`t something done sooner to calm it.

It was forseeable where it was going to end, and we now have 4 members who can "Thread Ban" untill Anthony gets to have a look and decide what is going on.

I am not having a go at you guys and I know none of you asked for the Responseability (I guess it was due to me that you all got dicked with it), I was PMing with Jen about the issue. But I personaly think that both M2 and Red should have been banned from the thread to stop it before it started to go out of control.

Thus reducing the fallout and not F*cking the site up for weeks.

Like I said, not having a go, just food for thought for the future maybe.

Good and valid points Angle. Perhaps it may be better to move a bit slow at first to determine what is really going on. I do know that no matter what was done and when, that particular situation went south fast. Those of us that can thread ban someone are cautious about how and when we us it. It is always easier to analyze a situation after the fact to rethink what we might have done. I believe that's important also.

Your not Red. When I look back and now see you had every right to question who he was, but putting a name down was the only downfall for future reference.

The problem is that we have only really thread banned one guy ever and have not had to use our super powers.

We four musketeers usually get together and confer, but we are not all on at the same time.

I think in future whoever is on needs to jump straight away.

Jimmy, I am so new here, that this was a good learning experience for me. That you mods take your time before you use the super powers and just out right Ban someone. I do think this is a good thing when you are dealing with people with the Beast. At times someone may go off their meds or get drunk and post some crap that they did not mean. Should they get baned or worked with? In the time I have been here, I think you mods have a hard job and you all do it so it well.

Well, then it was I that didn't move quick enough. I was more concerned with a newb that was confessing war crimes on the net than watching it ramp up out of control. I temper everything I do on the net with knowledge that the feds are constantly on my ass. They go everywhere I go and watch everything I do and also see what others are doing and have direct access to their IP addresses.

They clobbered my computer when I said something about it and haven't been able to piece everything back together until now.

If I'm not doing my job right, take it away from me. I don't like being a "heavy" anyway, because I tend to place a higher value on the person than what he's saying. I placed a higher value on who he could have been, as in a real deal in serious trouble, than the trouble he was causing.

Hind sight is always 20/20. And it's easy to think about the coulda', woulda', shoulda' of any situation. Sadly, there will always be some that we find questionable that are just guys that need a lot of help. We're not doctors, just soldiers. It's hard enough sometimes for us to deal with what we have to let alone understand what's going on with someone else. Considering all that we've all been through this is a generally peaceful place to be. We do what we do and have to let the pieces fall where they may.

I think this site is moderated at a good pace. I do wish you four could ban from the site the trolls.
I also think when a troll appears typically it always starts out with one of us having a go with them. That seems to be pretty common from what I have seen.
That's not to say others don't get involved, I can recall several of these situations and it is typical for it to start out one vs one and then grow.
Its also common for some of them to return and try to keep it going. I wish we could ban the IP address not just that email address. If we could I think it would reduce the trolls from returning.
I am all about helping and this site being here for everyone to heal. That guy is most likely not a vet. and if he is he needs more help than what we can provide. I said it before and I meant it I hope he does get the help he needs.
Going to homeland security and the FBI about him was just as much for them to go talk to him and make sure he is not a threat to others. I think there is a lot going on there that even we cant understand and the possibility of him becoming violent is very real.
There are folks out there that don't belong in here that need a lot of help. I think he was one of those.
I also don't think moderators were wrong to wait and give him a chance. I think it went south very fast and that's not your 4's fault.
