Bans such as you suggest Red are not possible for those of us that can only 'thread ban' someone. That is an action that is only specific to the particular person and the specific thread, that's all.

To ban by either email or IP requires the admin ability to be able to go behind the scenes, so to speak, to the actual working of the forum where more private info about each person is stored. Unfortunately, it's been my experience that people can one; easily change their email address or use another laptop or pc to change their IP address. Or now the use of IP switchers, a program which will reassign the machines IP address is easily available. It can take a real concerted effort to keep someone off a site. To me it's an immature attitude to continue with such actions but then those people are. Or they're spammers and they are annoyingly aggressive.

Best tack; don't engage them too much as I suggested. Report them to Anthony or to one of us four or someone that you trust. The more you keep it out and off the 'main highway' here the better it is for all.

Luckily we don't get too many like this and that's perhaps a saving grace. As I say, I'm always here pm me if you want to talk about anything. Except maybe borrowing money or my truck. :LOL:

I've been away for a couple of days. So, I'm not sure what this is all about, and I'm not looking for details. But, I couldn't help picking up on something Sarg said. "I temper everything I do on the net with knowledge that the feds are constantly on my ass".

Really??? And, I'm certainly not questioning you Sarg. But, if the FBI and Homeland Sec. are spending time watching a bunch of old grunts who laid their lives on the line simply because their government asked them to then we've stumbled onto the cause of one of our biggest problems. The rooster can't tell the difference between the hens and the fox.

Thanks for the reply Jar. As long as you all survived the blood letting, that's what matters. I am doing ok. Meds and therapy. It is what it is. November and December were rough as they always are.

Glad it's gone. Discussions that go south are triggers to me but I do understand how it happens. I think we all have a lot of anger in us and there are certainly buttons that can be pushed. I know most of mine and try and stay at ease when I see them coming.
Certainly I don't want to get pissed off or piss someone else off. And usually when it's over, you don't want to go back to it. That's not right.

I try to tell my Chinese wife that when we have arguments and we fight, Americans have the custom of shaking hands as a gesture of closure. Sometimes guys I have had real disagreements with, have come to be my best friends. Not sure how that works but it does.

If the people involved are sincere about it it's always good and goes well. It's an old custom but a good one. I'm with you on that Vik.
