Poll Is There A Specific Genre Of Music That Calms You Down?

I was just curious as to what genre of music calms others down after a trigger.

I put other... As I listen to a whole lot of different genres & Artists within genres.

I'm super hipped on LinkinPark at the moment, but I have everything from Nina Simone to Marilyn Manson. Pop, all flavors of Rock, Country, Classical, Opera, Rap, R&B, Jazz, Swing, Blues... Just love music.

Modern indie folk or sunshine indie pop. The lyrics are normally good and often a tad surreal. I also am currently a bit obsessed with Nahko and Medicine for the People, as well as Copeland. I think I have what you would call eclectic taste.

If I'm really in a state I go straight for meditation and chant. Shantala is a favorite there, or something classic in the synth realm like Deuter.

I put other cos I tend to listen to "man and guitar" stuff, not quite rock or pop but not as roots based as folk music.

I select rock because most of the music I listen to falls in the catergory. Though I do listen to hard rock, some metal, some pop, and some alternative. Like @FridayJones I am a Linkin Park fan and like pretty much like every song they have done. I find if I sing along to these types of music I can release my own angry, frustration, and sadness.

To calm down, I marked other. I prefer either obscure quirky alternative with uplifting lyrics or instrumentals with either an epic quality, a heart beat rhythm in the percussion, or bilateral or resonating tones.

@FridayJones I love Linkin Park! I have been a fan since Hybrid Theory first came out. I was able to see them on tour recently and they were awesome!

I like all kind of rock music or heavy metal - there has to be a nice bass beat (it's my heartbeat). ...depending on my mood I also like it when there are violin, piano or bag pipe added to the music.
