I was going to add that, Nicolette. i was "high functioning" until my cup ran over all the time and I crashed. Now I'm not so high functioning.

Yes, its called high functioning in that the symptoms are not as severe or obvious. ... They have more good days than bad but still suffer symptoms of the illness and fulfill the criteria for diagnosis.

That is pretty much what I was saying with regard to the terminology being wrong, calling an illness "mild" when suffering the same symptoms as someone else is misleading. The difference is in the appearance of normality, thus how well the person suffering the symptoms is able to hide the problem and appear "normal" at that time. Semantically there is a major difference between actual mild symptoms and the extent to which severe symptoms can be masked.
