Right. It's a classic psychoanalysis joke that a patient is cured when she says that she hates her father. They believed all neurosis and psychosis stemmed from types of repression, including denial and amnesia for abuse or trauma. Now, of course, it is clear with PTSD that just knowing and being able to say what traumatized you does not get rid of PTSD symptoms. But of course, nobody can process a patient's trauma that is not out on the table in some way.
