USMC veteran

New Here
Hi My name is Matt and I'm Diagnosed with PTSD. I have had PTSD since my first deployment to Iraq in 2004. I have never completely recovered but I found that asking for help is not a bad thing. I was very secluded at times and I have a hard time sleeping and talking to people. I saw this site and thought I would say hello and see how everyone on here cope with PTSD.

Hi Matt, It's nice to meet you! Asking for help is a good thing! It's great that you are reaching out. I just joined, but it looks like there are some very cool, knowledgeable members contributing and the forum is quite active.

Hi Matt,

You've arrived at a good place.

I'm a UK veteran with PTSD since the Falklands War in 1982.

The advice you get here is not always what you want to hear but I can only say that it's honest and you should get strength from it. The people are kind and if you need to vent, question or just speak about your feelings then this is a very safe place to do it.

Welcome!

Hi Matt, I too have PTSD ( USMC ) and it is very much ok to ask for help, I am proud that I did and I am proud that you did. We are a special breed of Soldier, and the mindset is somewhat different for Marines.

I have delt with this for 12 years and have seen both failure and victory in my day to day life living with PTSD. I have over come some things, and have more work to do, I know that it will never end but I can manage my emotions and my life with the proper tools. So can you, I have learned that I can live not just survive, I can overcome my problems and be a great person. I have PTSD.......PTSD doesn't have me brother....OOOOORAAA

We have a fight response to anything threatening. PTSD threatens. We fight. Unfortunately, it's a fight without any training.

This site will help. I have learned so much I can't believe it managed to get a hold of me to start with.

Whatever happens you will gain strength to deal with it here.

We're here for you. You, when you're ready will be here for us.

Welcome to the forum, Matt.I found this site a few months back. Been on it ever since. Hope it helps you as much as it does for a lot of us.
