I know he was reacting to stress... but dude, not now. Not when I'm flat on my back waiting on biopsy results

Ugh... yes... PTSD is horribly selfish sometimes. I blew up at a funeral once. It's beyond crazy.

You have gotten some excellent feedback.
What I am about to say is my thoughts when I read your post.

I don't know what your vet was like before his service so I hesitate to to say its because of it. Actually it doesn't really matter unless he knows how he is acting is wrong, admits it and gets help to change.

What I saw reading your post is the classic actions of an abuser. I see you doing what many abused do, making excuses for your abuser. He maybe incapable of empathy or compassion, I don't know.

How he acts, what he says or what does or doesn't do is IMHO not what you should be pondering.

Perhaps you should be giving some real thought as to why you make those excuses for him and in doing so find his actions towards you acceptable. It is not acceptable and you deserve better.
I'm glad you have your mother to help you through your recuperation. I wish you a full recovery and send you strength.
