@City Slicker : Glad to hear I made you laugh. ;)

Wow, you're so brave even thinking about flying! :wideeyed::wideeyed::wideeyed: I would do anything so my feet will stay down on the ground.:cool: ...so I can relate to your final decision. :p

I have the problem that I don't like to wear gloves while running - it's like I get the feeling that I will overheat - and so I just cannot put enough lotion on my hands.

I did some Yoga Nidra today - and my jaw is grateful, less tense.

@Anrish - I know exactly what you mean - I don't like wearing weather protection either - funny eh, I don't like a hat, heavier shoes for winter traction, gloves, a waist bag or vest for storing stuff...

For New Year's Eve, I decided to go into the city and run the Midnight Run. It was a gorgeous night and the rain had stopped so since it wasn't that far a drive I decided to give it a try last minute.

I stayed for the party afterwards for the runners which was really nice and met some women interested in getting an informal hockey league together.

This morning I was up bright and early and Hank and I drove back into the city for the polar bear swim. I sat with Hank in the car until the swim was ready. Hank stayed in the car and I ran and kind of tripped, splashed and stumbled into the water. It's an amazing feeling when you start getting warm after almost freezing your a*s off lol.

After I towelled off, changed in the car and got warm Hank and I went for a walk into the area where the other swimmers were. He had a blast with people hugging him and making a fuss over him. There were hot dog vendors there and so I bought him a hot dog while I ate a protein bar.

Tomorrow is a rest day (thankfully)

Happy New Year to you all!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful experiences @City Slicker ! you're a constant motivator for me - especially after I started into this New Year anxious and crying...I really admire your courage to go to such events with so many people. That's what scares me most. :shy:

I did some running and Yoga last week. Today and tomorrow will be no sport days because of monthly pain.

Thank you @Anrish - I appreciate your words very much. I have been pretty swamped with work lately but I start the day with at least a 10k run.

These past few weeks I am doing yoga at a local gym. I have no idea what kind of yoga it is but it's pretty muscular which is what I like lol!

Also I am cycling a bit more and doing more weight workouts and thinking of trying TRX.

I am not running Boston this year but I thought I would look around for a different type of marathon (I read of one marathon that's on a cruise ship!!) so I am looking for something a bit unusual where I could take Hank.

Hope you all are well!

'see you' on the trails!

@City Slicker : Glad to hear from you. And you're inspiring as you have always new ideas what you want to try out. :D

Congratulations on your run. I was devastated by my old work conditions and under so much pressure that I couldn't run longer than 50 min because I was just too tense...:( ...it was my first "longer" run today, about 75 min on our keep-fit trail and I did all the exercises. I already feel my sore muscles...:p

The cruise ship sounds very exciting! Are dogs allowed there? How is Hank doing anyway? I'm really so glad you have him.

I do already train for the next Obstacle Mud Race. :ninja:

And if I ever get the chance to travel Canada, I would love to go for a run with you one time.

I also did Yoga today - I couldn't even do Yoga the past weeks because my pulse was too fast and I was too tense even for relaxation exercises. Quite some progress.

Great to read you are all still at it!

We are having heatwaves so I got up at 4.45am three times last week and walked from 5am until 6.20am. I go with my walking group, which is a great motivator to turn up. You can't walk beyond 6.30am now - it is just too dangerous. Yesterday we went and walked around the airconditioned mall.

I also have been doing lots of hip and back exercises. My physio said not to over do it.

I went to a pilates class last Thursday and it was intense. But it is so what I need to build up my core muscles.

I did 20 laps of swimming one day last week. I also swam 6 laps the other day.

My pain is high at this time so exercise and stretching are very important to assist in my recovery, under medical supervision, of course.

I now don't sit for Mindfulness - as it exacerbates my physical injuries which mostly orginated from my Father's bashings. Instead I do Mindful walking which means my pain doesn't flare up and I can manage.

Yesterday I got a massage, the pain was so high, I also went in the pool/spa at a friend's place and stayed in air conditioning.

Being obese is not helping - I was so dissociated I didn't notice that I had put on so much weight. I am working to slowly get it off. My whole recovery fell apart after I got hammered from just about every direction. It is unfortunate that so much happened at once during my anniversary months. So I am working to get back on top of all that - it is going slowly. Physical activity is very important for my recovery. I just have to be careful not to overdo it!

I have been doing house renovations and I have to be taped or wear a special belt to prevent doing further damage. So that have been quite physical.

The brick wall started to fall down so it was all hands on deck to clean up that. I did well with all that.

I have to sit with a back support at all times now. I wake really stiff from the injuries but gentle exercise alleviates that.

I will be doing Kajukenbo tonight. It's an hour long class, and my belt is still white so it's not exactly difficult yet. I tend to have some issues with sensory integration during class, or maybe class just makes me notice it more, but it actually helps me in that when I notice I am gentler with myself because I can remind myself that it's okay and breathe, and just keep going. My daughter is in the same class and so I talk to her afterwards and this way I fill in any blanks or missing pieces as some details are always missed. She and I also practice together daily. This has been a therapeutic form of exercise for me so far.

Practiced the short blocking set, back hand family, forward punches, reverse punches, inner ridge, and bottom fist. My daughter has mastered all of them. I am confident with my short blocking set, but need to work on my back hand family some more. Worked on each movement separately first breaking them into pieces with force but deliberately slowed down, and then practiced at the pace we are taught in class. I appreciate being able to practice in front of a mirror, it helps me to spot what I need to fix, and then it helps me feel my movements better somehow...if that makes any sense.
