Med Insurance Bites Me In The A**

Greetings

I have very good med insurance but when dx with ptsd I accessed the mental health division and found out there are no providers in Oh.

Heart or brain transplant, no problem.

Granted I am entry level (in my mind) where ptsd is concerned, but now I have to find an avenue for Wellness.

All you all are my first line of care, for you offer a library of history and opinions that I can use EVERY DAY!

Same boat here on the med insurance... though I am at a point where I am low risk now and do not need a provider for therapy unless or until something else traumatic happens (which I sure do hope not). I had limited ability to do treatment through insurance, but had unlimited ability to self educate and to find peer support (like the forum here) and to attempt modalities and coping skill goals. Much available on the 'net and I say amen for that.

Yep, relating.

Health care unavailable, lack of educated doctors even with existing and affordable insurance where I'm at, so self care and education and all the other channels of medical care are amazing.

Where in Ohio are you located? If you are in southern Ohio, there may be providers in Northern Kentucky or even in southeastern Indiana.

In the entire state? Good god!

The "mental" part of my insurance sucks ass too!

INSURANCE!! :banghead:

I can't believe they have no one in an entire State! I know OH is a rather small State. My ex roommates are from OH and say they used to go to, i think, PA all the time. Maybe one in another State?

Or maybe one on a sliding scale? Is there secondary insurance?

I dont know, that really sucks! Im sorry!

Greetings

My primary gp has been given info from the company eap provider from me.

And he is ready to medicate, problem is he has to rely on me for med direction.

Eap was employer provided. And even though he dx me, he is not allowed to comunicate with my dr.

Your PCP should be able to dx too. Its not an ideal way to go about it and better to have someone with greater specialization but all docs can do an official dx. If you sign an authorization form for release of info they should be able to communicate with EAP.

I have good health insurance and even on the mental health side it's not too bad.
Here in New Jersey, however, there are no specialized mental health facilities for people with PTSD. My insurance is willing to do what @Justmehere said and work with a facility as a single case agreement, hopefully as in network so I don't have to pay anything. So we're working on that right now. Insurance in general can be so frustrating.
