Meds are making me twitch

so for the past week I've been on Citalopram (celexa) and I have been feeling very tired and waking up a few times a night. I thought this was either the meds or just lack of sleep. Anyway today my partner didn't have work so he laid in bed and noticed that I am now constantly twitching and jerking in my sleep which is not normal for me at all. Apparently this can be a side effect of taking these meds. But here's my question.
Do I keep taking them and hope my symptoms settle down as I adjust to them or do I raise this issue with my doctor now and see if I can change them?

I think it's important that you stay in contact with your doctor. He may want you to come off the meds or he may want you to stick it out. I know that muscle twitching can be dangerous with antipsychotics but I'm not sure if it's as serious an issue with antidepressants.

Always raise the issue with your doctor. That doesn't mean you have to change them, it does mean that they're aware of a side effect that may (or may not) necessitate changing them.

As easy as calling and asking;

"My husband noticed I'm twitching and jerking a lot in my sleep since I started celexa. Is this bad?"

You should see a doctor if the medication is making you twitch since thats not normal

@Ivi

could be an "extra-pyramidal sign" called "myoclonus"

some anti-deps cause some ppl to have this side-effect

tell your MD or PsychMD and they will advise

Be well:happy:
